Fall 2008 PIs

BLAHHHH!!!! still nothing from the Marketing and PR departments. i try to ignore it so much but its hard. I mean I even avoided dis to the point I was behind 2 or 3 pages lol. but anywhoo...

still waiting ...................

Hi everyone! Can I ask a really dumb question? I am graduating this May and *hopefully* doing the CP in the fall. I was wondering if it would be possible to do a PI after the CP ends? Or do I have to be a student still?

Be VERY careful when you do this. Reason I am responding to your post directly is because I had the same exact situation you did and I felt I got the short end of the stick in the deal.

Disney can NOT keep you for longer than 1 year for an intership. Reason I mention this is because I was told I would be better off doing the Advantage program and not the shorter program if a PI was my goal.

What ended up happening was when it came time to apply for a PI, I was not eligible because I had not completed the CP. If you do come here with the interntion of doing a PI, make sure you do NOT do a long program.

The PI is 6 months, so make sure your CP is 6 months or less.

Just passing this information along as it would have helped me tremendously if I had realized this when I was at Disney

Are there any PIs that run from January to May? I am hoping for the Fall Advantage program this year and thought the PI that followed would be over in May.

I'm pretty sure this isn't true. You have to complete a full program before you do a PI so if you did a spring advantage you couldn't leave your program early to do a PI that started in June. However you could do a Spring program and start in the Fall, or a Fall advantage and start in the spring. So Berlioz, you should be fine as long as you complete your whole program before you go for your PI.
I know for a fact that Disney will keep you for more than a year calendar. My cousin did 2 advantage programs so he was a CP for 15 months.
In fact that is the 2nd question they asked during my PI screening interview. "Is this your 3rd program in a row?" I didn't understand what she meant and she explained that you can't do more than 2 semesters as a college program student.
After 2 semester you have to go back and do another semester at school, then you can re-apply.

I just had an interview for the sales and event internship. I think it went really well and it sounds like an awesome internship. This internship wasn't in my top three but I was still contacted and I think she could see that it wasn't in my top three. So I think you will still get contacted if they are interested.

Exactly which sales & events internship was it? for summer or fall? and was this an interview with managers or the recruiter?

**Edited: realized that the information that I wanted was just posted**

The name of the internship is sales and events. It is for the fall, starting in june ending in january. the interview was with a woman named Tammy and she is a manager for that department.

Im not quite sure when you were here, but things have changed. We did the advantage program and around July when it came time to apply to extend...not 1 person on our advantage program was allowed to extend because it would put them past the one year mark.

There was no less than 30 people on our program that I personally know of that tried to extend their program and each and everyone of them was denied due to the length of the program.

This was all last semester, so If you have been here more recently than that, then you may have more up to date information.

Okay, so I am confused. Maybe someone can clarify:

1. If you do a CP and the end date is after the start date for a PI, then you cannot do the PI. True or false?

2. If you do an advantage CP, then you cannot do a PI right after because it puts you over one year for two programs in a row. True or false?

I went and looked up the "official word" because it has been a while since my cousin did his CP and it turns out you're right! :flower3: Here is what the hub said:
"Cast Members must be participating in the spring Disney College Program with a May or June 2008 departure date to use this process. (Please be aware that you cannot participate in consecutive programs totaling more than one year.) Spring Advantage Program participants will have an opportunity to apply for an extension mid-summer."
However, they don't say anything that about how that effects applying for PIs. I know a lot of people are applying for CPs as their backup. I would suck if you did a CP but weren't able to extend for a professional internship. Someone should email disneyinterns.com and find out the official policy!!

Here is my advice on a CP to PI transition. Keep in mind that not all information you will read on these forums are accurate and things change time to time.

I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND doing an Advantage program if your goal is to move into a PI.

If the PI program requires you to have completed a CP, then you will NOT be eligible for the PI when it comes to apply. By the time your CP ends, its too early to apply for the next one, but the other PI program is already going.

There is exactly ZERO advantages to doing an advantage program. If I had it to do all over again, I would do the short program and here is why.

1) If your goal is to move into a PI, the short program not only allows you to complete a CP, it also allows you to be eligible for the PI....and you will have enough time to do the PI while you are still down there because it will NOT put you over your one year limit

2) If you get a role or position some where that you dont like, there is very little you can do about changing roles. One of the main advantages of a short program is that you can extend and do something else.

3) I never saw anyone get denied an extension unless they were going to be over the 1 year mark, or had a bad record card.

I came down here with the intention of doing a PI and listened to everyone ( including the recruiter ) and was told the advantage program was the way to go. Unfortunantly, this was totally wrong and if I had done the short program, I would have been completed with my PI long , long ago.

I have missed a couple of days. I applied for all management positions. The first interview went pretty good. Standard questions were asked and I was told I was getting passed on. I sent back the resume and before it even got there I got an email from the Food & Beverage hiring managers and have a interview set for April 10th. That is going to be the big one. Anyone that has interviewed for Food & Beverage management, talk to me, what do they ask?

I think I should be fine, just can't wait to get it done.

I have a face2face interview with Food&Beverage Management on April 8th at 10 am! I'll let you know what kind of questions they ask me when I get home from Disney on the 9th!

Congrats on the second interviews! I'm quickly getting the impression that hiring managers for management internships are on top of their game and making swift progress. The hiring managers for the rest of the internships, on the other hand, don't seem to be in any hurry.... guess the other internships aren't as important..........

Still haven't heard anything at all. Anyone else apply late in the game and still haven't heard anything? I know things are crazy down at WDW right now so I'm banking my hope on that I'll get a call or something once things slow down.

I already got scheduled for a first and second interview (kind of strange) but I will take it! Conservation Biology!!!

I think this question has probably been answered...

After my first interview the WDW professional application showed up on my account. I completed and submitted it but it says to bring it to my next interview. I haven't heard anything for a second interview since my first one was last Wednesday.

Did I do right by just filling it out and hitting the submit button?

Sorry, I'm just getting a little anxious here :flower3:

I'm pretty sure you need to mail it in. I mailed mine into here:
