Fake FPs

Haven't had a lot of time to post...should have done this when we first got back.
On one of our days going through Space's FP line the people in front of us were stopped and told their fast passes were fake. We speculate it was the paper..but the CM looked at them and then showed them to another CM. The people were told to leave...and didn't put up any fight. THe girl did say "We got them from the machine" but that was all.
Anyone else see anything like this?

I bet they bought them on Ebay or Craiglist.

I was just talking to my friend about this!
I was wondering why there wasn't more cases of fake FP. They don't seem terribly hard to make, and it's not like the CMs inspect them that much.
I guess most people visiting DLR are honest :)

It seems to me that it'd be less work to just get a real FP the regular way than to make one...and certainly cheaper to get one the regular way than buy one :rotfl:

I bet CMs who collect FPs day in and day out become very familar with how a real FP feels. I'm sure that's how they can spot a fake. I've never seen that happen before.

Thats a good one SpaceMermaid.... he he.... And I agree.

I bet the CMs know the passes by feel. It's a thicker card stock then regular paper, but not by much. But seriously--REALLY???

Why would you even bother? Do what everybody else does...get there early and get one yourself! That's just plain weird.

Seems like such a waste of your time, to make fake FP's. But I don't doubt that people do it. Heck, I knew someone who flat out told me they had at least once. :headache:

Seems like a lot of work would have to be involved to make fake FP wouldn't it? While we all know that you can use them past their time you can't use them on a different day....so if you're selling them on Ebay or Craigslist you'd have to coordinate with the buyer the exact days that they want to ride which rides.

Nah...too much work for me....easier to do it the old fashioned way, lol.

Although I must say I'm surprised that the folks with the fake FP didn't get into more trouble. My opinion that should have been their last ride of the day, throw the bums out....making more space for, well, me, lol.

I think it would take more time to make a faux FP than to wait in the ride's line. :lmao: Silly.

Scan it in, change the date and print it out. HOWEVER there is quite a lot of printing on the BACK of the FP and I think that would be the hard part, getting the printing on the back to line up correctly. If you were to print it out and hand it to the CM face UP they probably would not even look at the back. But turn it OVER and see a blank back that would be the tip off IMO. The back is printed in red (I have a few old REAL ones here) and there are some black kind of computer marks on them, the bottom has a perferation from where the one before it was etc. There are just a lot of little details that would be easily overlooked when trying to fake one at home. Especially by teenagers!

I've never had a problem using a FP from a previous trip. This last trip was planned and on previous trips I would get an extra FP or 2.

Yeah, or a give away would be the changed date....you'd have to find that exact font or it would look rather odd. But even if you could get that right...the matter of the perforated edges would be another hurdle.

So...maybe not impossible, but WAY too much work, lol.

Well, then you have been extremely lucky, I've not heard of folks being able to use FPs on a different date.

We inadvertly tried once simply because I keep all the FPs in my lanyard holder with my AP, and I apparently didn't empty it out the night before and thought we had passes but they were from the day before. Embarassing!

I was once the FP line at Test Track and a man pulled out a sandwich bag full of FPs. He had hundreds. He looked through them leisurely and started to attract a lot of attention. He took out two and handed one to his daughter. We all speculated that he either made them or they were old ones he collected. They let him pass with no problems.

We were on Tom Sawyer's Island when my son found a paintbrush. He was given his choice of Splash or Big Thunder Mountain FPs. He took a Splash. We were stopped when entering the line though because the FP were a day old! We explained how we received them, but the CM wouldn't budge.
