Just wondering if anyone had head how the Fairytale Vacation Packages were going? I know that when they were first released to DC memebers that there was some concern they would go before they opened to the public. Just curious to see if anyone has had a problem getting specific dates or hotels.

Later!

Nope! I'm a non DC member and I just booked our trip using the package on Monday....No problems at all!!!

I know the concierge rooms at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian are filling up quickly with this plan. You may have to picky with your dates if your planning a trip in July to one of these rooms.

We just booked 7 nights at the GF in a lodge tower room yesterday. I just couldn't pass up the great deal!

I booked our Fairytale Vacation Package about a week or so ago. I called the number on the WDW website and talked to an agent there to make the reservations. She said I'd called on the first day the package was available to the public (meaning non-DVC members) and she told me that it was very smart to call early, because the folks who came up with this deal didn't expect the availability to last much more than a month after the package was announced!

The only thing that dampers my spirits a bit about this deal is that DF and I planned our trip in late September/early October specifically to avoid the crowds associated with spring break, summer, and autumn/winter holidays. While I know the park attendance still won't be nearly as bad as it might be in mid-summer or closer to Thanksgiving, I still wish I could daydream about having the parks virtually to ourselves!

Oh well ... Any WDW vacation is good for me! Mickey baby, here we come! ;-)

the third week of august seems to be filling up pretty quickly. i was told there are only "premium" views left for that week at ASMo and CBR. i'm not suare about availability at other places.

I looked online on Tuesday at the BCR, YCR, and AKL, and all had plenty of rooms to choose from for Oct 30-Nov 6. Today, I tried to book and the Beach Club was full on Oct 30 and had only 1 room available on Oct 29. I managed to book the last 2 rooms (of any type) at the YCR for Oct 30. The online booking system was going haywire, so I called. I asked if they had been receiving lots of calls this week and was told yes, more than they expected. I can't imagine the peak summer times would be any easier. The rooms are filling fast and people are modifying their vacation plans to fit in to the Fantasy Discount timeline.

Welcome to the DIS boards Rexmundi! :)

When I booked my package for CBR, August 5-10, I asked to see how the package was doing. She said that All-Stars were "pretty much" sold out for that time period. It seems to be catching on!

I booked today at CRS. No problems.

WL only has Courtyard views available the last week in July. Just keep in mind that this is just the Package rooms, not the whole resort. For the same time, WL all views available at the rack rate.

I completely agree with you! I am taking advantage of SoG's CR deal, NOT the FT package...so when I heard about FT package coming out, I was very bummed out for selfish reasons. I thought, I picked mid-September for a reason! I am hoping that, regardless of this package, crowds will not be too bad.

::Grin:: Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt a wee bit disappointed over the idea of heavier September crowds. I'm glad, of course, that the FVP will give many more people (like us!) a budget way to visit WDW, but I just hope that desire to fill every room in every hotel doesn't create madness at the parks that the rest of us have to deal with!

I'm sure we'll have an extraordinary time though. Lucky Hucifer, your countdown is way shorter than mine! I'm sure you'll have a blast!

We're going to be there Oct 1-8 and I too was concerned about FTP causing crowd inflation. But I'm hoping that increased attendance levels might mean fewer seasonal cut-backs, giving us longer parks hours and more extras (SM, FITS, etc).

Optimism!

I'm with you, DrTomorrow! Bring back the perks, please! Optimism is always the right way to go. ;-)

I think they are really lighting a fire under the marketing campaign the last couple of days. Today I saw a tv spot for FTL during Regis and Kelly, and today I saw a big ad for FTL in the Friday Arts section of the times-- usually Disney ads run on Sunday in the travel section, so they are branching out.

You know, I think Disney kind of threw the "internet people" a bone on this one by making general booking available on May 8, 3 days before the marketing campaign took off. They knew the hard-core Disney addicts would hear about it , and it was nice we got a little headstart on booking. They complain about us internet folks, but you know deep down they love us! ;)

It is not just Disney that entered into a large nation wide advertising campaign this week. Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and the Orlando Visiting Bureau kicked off a $14,000,000 joint campaign to bring visitors to Orlando this summer. It has been on the televison and in the newspaper. Disney has the FTL packages, Sea World has specials, and Orlando Conventions and Visitors will be touting other local advantages. They will be coordinating all of these ads.

Universal Studios chose not to take part and will run their own ads.
