Fairy GodMAW Grants Princess Bella's WISH! Update 12/2 - One more sleep til Disney!

How exciting, Wendy is s generous to offer this for you and Bella. I cant wait to see pics of Bella in her new room.

Maroo, you are very talented. Love the nursery mural.

How awesome Wendy is to do that for you and Bella! I can't wait to see pics in your trip report *hint hint..lol*. I know nothing about US or IOA either, but I give great moral support..lol.

Maroo...how talented you are! I'm just going to import you to VA for Chrissi and I (okay, couldn't do that to Lauren or Rachel, but it would be wonderful.)

Well...no offense...but as soon as I feel comfortable moving....it will be much closer to Disney! That way I could meet TONS of wish families and maybe even volunteer at GKTW! How cool would THAT be?

But right now I am called to stay here in Jackson, MS! And I really do like it!

Thanks for the compliment on the mural. It was fun to do. I need to find more pictures and upload them to Facebook.

This is an incredibly generous offer! I can't wait to see pictures of it!

And thanks for the compliment! :)

awww - the mural...

WOW!! :wizard:

Love the purchases!! We've never been to Universal....

we get into Disney, and just never leave!!

I found one picture...I think the rest are on my old computer - maybe even 2 computers ago??

But here is one of them from the church nursery. It is one of the first ones I did.

IMG_0410.jpg

Amazing! I love the mural! It is so bright and colorful. :flower: I hope you are able to find some more on your old computer, I'd love to see them. Thanks for sharing.

There will defnitely be pictures in my trip report! In fact, I think I'm going to ask for a video camera for Christmas and hint that I need it early. I want to capture the moment she walks into her room video AND photo.

Not to worry about US/IOA. I realize that I am on the DIS boards and to be honest, we're really only going because the tickets are given to us. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the generosity of US/IOA, but we've never even considered spending a day at US/IOA on our last 2 trips - it was Disney all day, every day! If nothing else, we'll just meander and hit the rides that look like the kids would enjoy.

Darn, I should have called dibs on Maroo first! :rotfl2:

Please do search for more mural photos! I would love to see them! Maroo, I envision you one day, way in the future, retiring to a place nearby GKTW in the to live out your days as Mrs. Clayton. Reading bedtime stories and bringing smiles to the faces Wish kids.

I was so excited about the pajamas only to open my emails this morning and one of the sizes was out of stock so they cancelled that one. Thing is, if they don't all match, I don't really want them! I am going to try and cancel the other ones too. :sad2:

Ohh..that bites about the pj's! I guess the good thing about having a "lonely only" is that I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff, lol. I think we're prob only going to do one day at US/IOA, prob at the beginning of the week, that way if she loves it, we can try to get back.

Yanno...we could always put Maroo on a timeshare arrangement..I call weekends! :rotfl:

Thats so friggin awesome!!! I cannot wait to see the pics! Bella is going to freak! I have got to get moving on Alyssa's plans, Im not completey ready yet :scared1:

I've been looking forward to day 3 so much that I'm *almost* willing to skip over the first 2 days to get there . . . almost!

We will spend the majority of Day 3 at Epcot. On a typical 3 day trip, I would split Epcot with another park, likely AK. However, after reading about the Candlelight Processional enhanced by the narration of Steven Curtis Chapman, I knew we would need to devote a full day to this well-deserving park at Christmastime.

The crowd level is estimated to be an 8:scared1: on this day but the recommended park is Epcot so I am hoping the lines and crowds won't be horrible.

Proposed plans for Day 3, Saturday, December 5th

Park of the day: EPCOT
Park Hours: FW 9AM-7PM WS 11AM-9:30PM

Breakfast at GKTW

8AM - GKTW Horseback Riding at Keaton's Korral

9AM - Rope Drop at Epcot. Does Epcot even have a rope drop and if so, is the ceremony worth rushing to get there? Is it sooooo good that it's worth skipping horseback riding to ensure we see it?

Spend the majority of the morning in Future World

FW rides and attractions that we "must see:"
Test Track
Soarin' (pick up KidCot lanyards while in The Land pavillion)
Living with the Land Boat Ride
The Great Piggy Bank Adventure (Innoventions West)
Spaceship Earth (love the rehab)
Turtle Talk with Crush
The Seas with Nemo and Friends
Club Cool (this will be our first time)
Journey into Imagination with Figment (will skip this one if we're pressed for time)
Mission Space (sissy version)

I have heard there is a special time/place for a character meet and greet for Disney Visa cardholders? Does anyone have more info on this?

Am I missing anything important in FW?

12:00ish - head over to World Showcase

Lunch - Reservation for Nine Dragons (WS China) at 1:45 for 6 people (this was booked as part of our Candlelight Processional Dinner Package

Spend the afternoon in World Showcase. Here is my list of "must do" rides and attractions for WS. Our main mission will be collecting kidcots from each and every country in WS.

KidCots in every country
Kim Possible Missions (somebody please help me get started with this - I have no clue where to begin or even what it is!:confused3)
Malestrom
Mexico Boatride
Miyuki candy artist in Japan
Chinese acrobats show
O' Canada show

We have 5:00PM Reservations for the Candlelight Processional Show starring

:worship::love::dance3::woohoo::yay:STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN :yay::woohoo::dance3::love::worship:

After CP, we will return to GKTW for dinner

7:45 PM to 8:30 Mayor Clayton’s Birthday Party GKTW Avenue of Angels

After Bday Party, possibly return to Epcot by 9:30 9:30 for ILLUMINATIONS: Reflections on Earth. As part of our CP package, we get preferred seating for Illuminations.

Will we be able to make it back for Illuminations? Is the 'preferred seating' worth the rush? Where is the preferred seating?

Am I missing anything in Epcot?

Is there a hint list for hidden Mickeys? I'm challenging DD10 to find and photograph as many as she can on this trip!

Food: Given the times of our late lunch and dinner, I figure we will need to have 2 snacks on this day. One in FW and one in WS. Suggestions? Keep in mind we have 3 kids with us. What are your top 2 snacks in FW and WS?

A few comments:

I think you may be cutting it close to get back to Illuminations.

The KimPossible sounds super fun! Go here: The Capell's TR

for a great write up of the KP Missions. You might have to scroll back a page or two...? It's very, very thorough!

don't skip Figment! I like it better than M:S, but then again, I'm a dark ride fanatic from old school Disney.

EPCOT doesn't have much of anything for a ceremony at RD. Don't bother to rush or knock yourself out for it!

Wow! Day 3 sounds like a blast. It does sound like maybe pushing it with time to get to Illuminations, although I've never been so I could wrong :confused3

Liesa got it covered with Kim Possible. But here is another link to what Kim Possible missions are. http://www.stitchkingdom.com/kimpossible/

I cover you with Kidcot stops... some are hard to find!! http://www.stitchkingdom.com/kidcot/

I agree with the PP.. you might be cutting it close leaving Epcot and then coming back for Illuminations. You might want to think about possibly going to Sunshine Seasons and splitting a few meals. They have pretty big portions. Or just getting a few snacks.

I'm going to try School bread in WS for a snack. I hear so much about it on the DIS... I need to see what it is all about

Your list of rides sounds great! With the GAC you should be able to get to all the rides you want!

Here is a site that has some hidden Mickey's in Epcot http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/hiddenep.html

Your plans do sound great!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Sounds like a fun day! I'll be curious to see how much your dd's enjoy Epcot, since they're close to Piper's age. I'm hoping she'll fall in love with it, but you never know...

Yanno...we could always put Maroo on a timeshare arrangement..I call weekends! :rotfl:

:rotfl:

You guys will have to fight with Rachel's Mom and Lauren's Mom. :rotfl2:

I am officially jealous! SCC!!! He is one of my heros!

Proposed plans for Day 3, Saturday, December 5th

Park of the day: EPCOT
Park Hours: FW 9AM-7PM WS 11AM-9:30PM

Breakfast at GKTW YUM!

8AM - GKTW Horseback Riding at Keaton's Korral

This is probably going to take a little while? At least a little longer than 30 minutes? Maybe if you get there early, you can be first and hopefully won't take too long.

9AM - Rope Drop at Epcot. Does Epcot even have a rope drop and if so, is the ceremony worth rushing to get there? Is it sooooo good that it's worth skipping horseback riding to ensure we see it?

I don't think it is worth missing anything else for it. The main advantage is getting to Soarin' first... There is no big production like the Magic Kingdom.

I was told that preferred seating will be in 3 different locations depending on which CP you see. Hopefully they will tell you once you get there.

If you stay for just the first part of the Birthday Party, then you could make it back. Especially since the Button will get you front parking. But it will be close.

Food: Given the times of our late lunch and dinner, I figure we will need to have 2 snacks on this day. One in FW and one in WS. Suggestions? Keep in mind we have 3 kids with us. What are your top 2 snacks in FW and WS?

Hmm...snacks.

I have not had a bunch of snacks in WS. You may want to check the snack thread over on the Restaurant Board?

The Pretzel was really good and big enough to share, for sure. And quite filling. They also have big funnel cakes. I definitely think you would be able to share snacks.

One thing to keep in mind is that WATER at the counter service locations is FREE. Just ask them for a free water and they will hook you up. That will save a lot on your snack money, because the drinks really can cost a lot.

You could also bring drinks from the Villa - since Walmart is right there - and even snacks with you.

You will have a stroller, right? You can put them with the stroller and not have to tote them around all day? :confused3

By the time I got the email about the 'out of stock' pjs, they were already shipping the other two. I'm not sure if I want to refuse/return them or just keep them. I mean $5 for pjs is still a great deal!

If you get weekends then can I have um, let's say summer and Holidays?!? Ah Maroo, what would we do without her? I hope she knows just how invaluable she is to us Wish families

Thats so friggin awesome!!! I cannot wait to see the pics! Bella is going to freak! I have got to get moving on Alyssa's plans, Im not completey ready yet :scared1:

I picked up a couple more items yesterday for the room (woo hoo for Craigslist!) and we are thinking of painting the bed today. I have no idea how I will get the 'surprise' ready while simultaneously planning and packing for the trip!

I was worried about the timing for Illuminations and Mayor Clayton's Bday. Looks like we may need to choose one or the other :( Thanks for the link to more info on KP. I think we will get to Figment as long as we don't get stuck in a line somewhere. I put it on my potential skip it list because we have all been on it and it is in need of a serious rehab. The exit is the best part about that ride these days? :rotfl:

Good to know about the rope drop, or lack thereof, at Epcot. We will relax and enjoy our horseback rides before rushing over to Epcot that morning.

Wow! Day 3 sounds like a blast. It does sound like maybe pushing it with time to get to Illuminations, although I've never been so I could wrong :confused3

I was worried about that. I think we'll play it by ear. We will go to the birthday party and if the kids are having fun just stick around there. If the party is pretty much over and it looks like we may make in time for Illuminations, we may mosey on over.

Soarin' (pick up KidCot lanyards while in The Land pavillion) Kidcot stations in Sept. were only at the Land and the Seas and I have read since then that they have been removed.
Living with the Land Boat Ride
The Great Piggy Bank Adventure (Innoventions West) -This is a great and fun experience
Spaceship Earth (love the rehab)
Turtle Talk with Crush
The Seas with Nemo and Friends
Club Cool (this will be our first time)
Journey into Imagination with Figment (will skip this one if we're pressed for time) Don't skip this - the kids will like it and they will love the playground of the future at the end
Mission Space (sissy version)

I have heard there is a special time/place for a character meet and greet for Disney Visa cardholders? Does anyone have more info on this? - It is from 1:30 -4 in Innoventions, but I am not sure whether it is East or West. You just go anytime during that time frame. In Sept. we went at 3:30 and we were second in line. The characters change. One time afew years ago we had four characters and this past year we had Mickey and Pluto. It is a private meet and greet. They will put all of the photos on your photopass. Then you can also go to the front of the park after a certain time to the camera center and they will print you one free 5x7 and you can enhance it with borders and character signatures for free.

Is there a hint list for hidden Mickeys? I'm challenging DD10 to find and photograph as many as she can on this trip! - There is a hidden mickeys book that you can purchase at Barnes and Noble - it is tall and slender.

Food: Given the times of our late lunch and dinner, I figure we will need to have 2 snacks on this day. One in FW and one in WS. Suggestions? Keep in mind we have 3 kids with us. What are your top 2 snacks in FW and WS?
FW- Go to the Sunshine Seasons in the Land. They have tons of pastries and other good items to try - I really like the Strawberry Shortcake - it is 3-4 layers and so good. As for WS - the pastries in France are great. I am not sure about healthier options!

Thanks for the kidcot link. I remember spending ALOT of time searching for some of them and with our limited time this trip, it will help to know where we are going.

I'm getting the impression that my plans to return are a little too ambitious. A bummer indeed, but better to figure this out ahead of time than try to scramble that evening only to end up disappointed.

School bread . . . . hmmmmm. I hear many (mostly) good things about it. I may need to make it a priority snack for Epcot. Let me run that one by the 'team'!

I am going to email DD10 the link for hidden Mickeys. Thank You!

Here's the HM guru, in all his website glory! There are even pictures of every one he and his team have catalogued...

http://www.hiddenmickeysguide.com/
Oh wow, that is quite the hidden Mickey's site! So detailed, so organized, sooooooo PERFECT food to feed my OCD!
Sounds like a fun day! I'll be curious to see how much your dd's enjoy Epcot, since they're close to Piper's age. I'm hoping she'll fall in love with it, but you never know...

On previous trips, my DDs have enjoyed the FW portion of Epcot and kinda just tagged along in WS. The took a little more interst when we did the KidCot thing as well as the Passport. But even then, it was like hurry up and find the kidcot and/or passport stamper! I am hoping KP Missions and Hidden Mickeys will allow us adults a little more time to appreciate the details of at least a couple countries in WS.

:rotfl:

You guys will have to fight with Rachel's Mom and Lauren's Mom. :rotfl2:

I could take 'em! :lmao:

Hmm...snacks.

I have not had a bunch of snacks in WS. You may want to check the snack thread over on the Restaurant Board?

The Pretzel was really good and big enough to share, for sure. And quite filling. They also have big funnel cakes. I definitely think you would be able to share snacks.
Does the pretzel come with cheese? We are from Wisconsin you know!

One thing to keep in mind is that WATER at the counter service locations is FREE. Just ask them for a free water and they will hook you up. That will save a lot on your snack money, because the drinks really can cost a lot.
Water is going to be key to a happy trip for us. Bella gets dehydrated very, very easily and dehydration is a slippery slope for her. My goal is to get 30 ounces of water in her per day, minimum, and the free water will certainly be helpful.
You could also bring drinks from the Villa - since Walmart is right there - and even snacks with you.

You will have a stroller, right? You can put them with the stroller and not have to tote them around all day? :confused3
We are not bringing a stroller, but I thought I read/heard something about a free stroller rental through MAW or GKTW? :confused3

healthy, schmelthy. We're in DISNEY! We just need something the kids will eat! There must be a picky eater gene in my DNA and I've passed it onto DD10 and DD5. DD8 - she'll eat anything - a bonafide human garbage can!

Santas? In every country? That is now at the top of our WS 'to do' list! Thanks for the tip!

And thanks for the info on the Visa cardholders character meet.

You're entirely too welcome!!! I know I spend too many hours drooling over the ones I want to find!! :lmao:

I can't wait to see you, Joyce and Lisa in a girl fight! :rotfl:

Cheese Pretzels...not sure on that one. The one I got was in Germany in the WS and it was SOOOO good. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the center, salty and sweet. It was yummy. I am craving one. I am on a diet...can you tell? :rotfl2:

Stroller...I would seriously consider either taking your stroller (do you ever use one?) or renting a special needs stroller for your trip.

The strollers at the MK are so...hard. They don't recline. I would not want to sit in them over long periods of time.

William is a perfectly healthy 10 year old and we had to rent him a double because he just got so tired. But it was not very comfortable for him. He eventually gave up and they took him back to the room before Wishes one night. :(

The walking is just so much in Disney. And TONS in Sea World. Not sure about Universal, but I would assume more of the same.

They have special needs strollers that can be rented and delivered and picked up right at GKTW.

Here is the main site that does this and is the one recommended by Mom's Panel, DISboards and AllEars.net.

http://www.orlandostrollerrentals.com/

You can also get a "stroller as a wheelchair" tag - which I would do so that you don't have to park the stroller as much at Disney and even the lines can be long.

And your other children could even ride in it. They will get tired, too.

That pretzel sounds yummy. I love sweet and salty - the kids love anything with cheese! :rotfl: Speaking of sweet and salty, did you hear what the "must try" thing was at Wisconsin State Fair this year? (I'm pretty sure it made national news). Chocolate covered bacon! I tried it, and was unimpressed!

I asked our Wish Granter about the stroller situation. She is going to look into it. I think we definitely need something when we go - Bella gets very tired, especially when her blood sugar spikes after meals. She needs a good hour to rest and recover and a stroller would be a great place for that! The WDW double rentals have worked for us in the past. We just use sweatshirts as blankets and pillows.

LITTLE PROGRESS ON THE MAKE A WISH PARTY PLANS

I've been on the phone with our Wish Granter, Carrie, several times this week. We desperately trying to throw together plans for Bella's Wish Party with less than a week's time to go until the anticipated date of November 19th. If we can't get things worked out this weekend, I think we will need to change the date or risk a multitude of guests having schedule conflicts. Unfortunately, the place where we want to have the party has not been quick return Carrie's calls. :headache:

We have pretty much decided that Stonefire Pizza will be our first choice for the party. Despite the distance from home, it's Bella's favorite restaurant and the best part about it is the GLUTEN FREE PIZZA :dance3:! Carrie has left several messages with "the person in charge of parties" but as of tonight had not received a call back. I can only assume that they would rather book a full priced birthday party for the room rather than give some sort of a discount on the room for a Make A Wish party!! :sad2:

As a back up, we would try and schedule something at the bowling alley. There are 2 in town, but both allow smoking:guilty:. Additionally, both have league on Thursday nights so we would need to pick a different day of the week.

SURPRISE PRINCESS BEDROOM PROGRESS

The Surprise Princess Bedroom Makeover has had more luck progressing lately.:thumbsup2 I have found several good buys on craigslist and got lucky while mattress shopping and found a 'last one sale' at a store that I had a $50 gift certificate for! But I still have a way to go. There are several items that I "must do" to make this happen, as well as a few "wanna do"s and some possible "extras". Items in green are completed, red are new developments, all others still need to be done. This list will be a work in progress and once everything is green, everything will be set for the surprise!

Must Do
Princess Canopy Bed (donated by a friend, spray painted pink on Wednesday)
Mattress and Box Spring (purchased at Keck Furniture using $50 gift cert DD10 won at Soccerfest. Final cost $150)
Bedding, including canopy (this is a challenge!)
Floor covering
Paint
Curtains (purchased princess curtain rods on craigslist. NEW!$10)
Castle Mural (friend Wendy will paint it starting Monday 12/7)

Want to Do
Dresser
Princess Christmas Tree
Vanity (probably out of the budget range but if I found a used one on craigslist . . . )

Extras
Coat Rack (for dress up area - costumes donated by DISer)
Mirror (purchased on Craigslist $10)
BookShelf - Bella loves her books, kinda like Belle! I have found a "perfect" one, but it's $125 so I'm obviously still shopping for something more reasonable
