FairFX upto $1.80!!!

It's at 1.8135 now!

What's going on with the dollar? Is there a reason why the dollar is weakening again?

I know nothing about the US givernment or anything, so I'm puzzled lol

Not complaining though! Hope it stays like that until the morning, or even goes up, so I can get some more dollars!

It's even up on the high street. I have just checked M&S and Online Fx and their rates are on the up too.

Hey Meryll,

Once you apply for the card you have to wait for it to arrive and activate it before you can top it up. I requested mine with the minimum of £20 just to make sure everything was ok and then put enough on it to pay for the deposits on the rooms for next year. That alone saved us about £15 with the better exchange rate and no transaction fee.

You can also check your status online so you can see exactly what is on the card and what has gone out.

I'm going to put enough on to pay for the wedding deposit in December, get the interest payable in my savings account (hopefully!) and then transfer the wedding balance over and pay it now. Sarah (orangetiggs) used one for her wedding money.

If you use an ATM for cash it costs £1.50 per transaction.

They don't currently do joint cards on one account but you can apply for up to 5 cards which would have a separate balance and pin number.

HTH :thumbsup2

Just been having a look at this, and noticed if you order through Quidco, you'll get £8.25 added to your Quidco balance.

Also, it seems to be free if you load with £500 or more to start with.

Michelle, I've used the card in the UK and it's never left a shadow. It just takes the amount off your card. I checked my balance as soon as I'd paid, and within a minute or two, the money had gone out of my account.

I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but it's never left a shadow when I've used it. :)

It's (apparantly) only when using in restaurants hun.x.

That usually occurs when you leave a tip on the card, as the restaurant will take an authorisation for the meal amount when you give them a card and they they have to put through a different amount and they don't always tie up immediately. To get around it, we've started leaving tips in cash when paying by a card.

Thats exactly what were going to do-tip in cash :thumbsup2 .x.

Yeah, I've used it in restaurants too, and it's the same. In Orlando I'll be tipping in cash. :D
