Hello all, I've had a little search at old threads for answers the these questions but I can't seem to find the exact answers!

I'm looking at ordering my FairFx card this week but first wanted to ask a quick couple of questions!

1- Can I set up the FairFx card at check in to allow me to charge to the room? Will they put a hold on the card when I do that?
2- If I do charge to the room, can I pay the charges off each night or do I have to wait for the end of the trip?
3- If I use the FairFx card to pay for purchases in the parks will they ask for ID?
4- Is a provisional or driving licence sufficient ID? Hoping to pass my driving test this summer but would hate to bank on it! Or do I have to use my passport for ID?

I feel like these are silly questions but this is my first trip without my momma who usually looks after all this stuff for me! :lmao: Thanks all!

can't answer all but can tell you we have never needed ID to use the card anywhere. At check in you will have passport id anyway.

Yes you can oay off each night

We dont leave our fairfx card as we are worried about the hold so put cash down instead
They ask for id only if over a certain amount, not all will ask for it but some might and you may not need to sign for it if below like $10 i think

I would say your dl is fine as its a photocard one so should be ok, maybe take a photocopy of your passport in your purse just incase

I would not leave my fairfx card . There have been a few issues with people leaving them and the money goes into holding and takes 21 days to return to the card. I would just pay each day then you stay in control of your card. Would hate you to lose money whilst there. You can get a free ff card through topcash back if you do not have one. Also matalan used to do them.

I would swipe a credit card for charging to your room - pre-paid cards can do weird things with authorisations.

You can pay off the balance at any time however the charges will automatically run when you reach your credit limit or at midnight on your last night.

I am unsure whether a provisional licence will be accepted for ID but a copy of your passport plus that should be OK. I use my full driving licence as ID all the time with no issue however for a while Disney insisted on Passports for proof of age for alcohol purchases.

We left details of a debit card when we checked in, paid for everything using magic band and then I just went to reception every few days, when it was convenient and paid the balance off with the fairfx card. Worked very well, we had also been warned about the holding on the card.
Before we went I was concerned if I could leave the debit card details when we checked in, but that was fine.(We don't use credit cards anymore!)
Fairfx helps you keep a hold on your spending otherwise its very easy to get carried away on a credit card, as we have done in the past, this way I budgeted and kept to it.
And the bonus is, its really easy to add funds to your fairfx card whenever you want to, we did this whilst on holiday as well. So pleased with it, I have just ordered a Euro card as well.
Even better the fairfx exchange rate for dollars has got even better today yippee!

If you leave a credit card when you check in, can you only spend up to whatever the credit limit is on that credit card?
I have a credit card with a small credit limit £200.00. I will have all my spending dollars on my Fairfx card, which is what I intend to use to pay for any purchases made on the Magicband and, thus, charged to the room.
If I use my credit card at check in, will it show that I just have £200.00 credit on that card and not allow me to exceed that, even though I have many more funds on my Fairfx card - the card with which I intend to pay off the bill?

Thanks to all for your replies, ordered my fairfx card and will be sure to follow all your advice :D

We never leave our fairfx card on check in just in case they did put a hold on the card, we always leave our cc, (we have in the past a few times left our debit card) we then always pay our bill the night before checkout with our fairfx card, no need to go every few days just pay before 12pm on the last evening.
We've even used a cc with zero credit left on it so no need to worry about the available balance.

We only get asked for ID if we're using the card for a large amount of money, I always just keep my id in my purse.

We've used fairfx for many many years and have never had any problems.

Thank you for clarifying this!!!
I now know that I can leave my low limit CC at check in and it not have an impact on my spending power in WDW.
I will then pay the bill with the Fairfx card :thumbsup2
