For the price and amt of room for 5 people, DP seems better but how much farther of a walk is it? How are the rooms vs Fairfield?

Have you checked out Desert Inn and suites? They are right across the street from dL and have a ton more different room options and are slightly cheaper then Desert Palms. I will be staying there in 2 weeks and will post some pics!

We just got back after a 10 night stay at the Fairfield and highly recommend it.

As far as distance, it's about a 2 min walk to the lights to cross the road to DL.

Any of the hotels along the section of road is close, it really makes no difference to walk and extra 50 metres if the hotel is right for you.

I have previously stayed at the Carousel Inn and Best Western Mini Suites and recommend either.

I had stayed at the Desert Palm and liked it. It is the most economical for us when we go with my parents. We get the room that has two queens and a couch bed. It fits 5 adults and 2 kids well enough for a night or two. I would say it would be too tight for more time than that.

As far as the walk, it is at the corner, right next to the Candy Cane.

This map shows it a little further from the corner, but it is on the corner except for the 7-11 that is there.

I hadn't thought about the Desert Inn. It would be nice if they would change the names, so close makes it confusing.

As always thanks for all the advice.

I highly recommend :thumbsup2 Fairfield Inn. Desert Palms is the sister property of Desert Inn and that's probably why the name is so similar. I've never stayed at DP, but since someone mentioned DI&S I thought I'd weigh in on our experience there. We stayed at DI&S a few years ago and said never again. Carpet was filthy, parking is a huge issue at DI&S so heads up if you are driving/renting a car. It's supposed to be 1 car per room or 1 car PER SUITE (which makes no sense imo when you have basically 2 rooms that can hold up to 12 but allowed only one small car). These are things we noticed when we stayed there. We only had 4 of us and one car and they still ran out of parking and basically told DH he had to suck it up. After raising a fuss they allowed him to park at DP and walk back at 2am to DI&S and worse, they didn't care. Not fun or pleasant. We felt the room look dreary and dated.
