We were planning to see the shuttle launch on July 29th, but now they have move that launch to no earlier than mid November. We were staying 2 nights in Titusville and then moving to Vero Beach for 5 nights. We are planning to still go to VB, we can't wait. But now I need to decide if I should cancel Titusville and go to WDW instead.

I called this morning and they only have 2 br at SS and OKW for July 28 and 29th. It will be me, DH, DS15, DD11, DS8, my sis, nephew 14 and niece 12. I'm not sure if we would even go to a park, maybe a water park. DH and I have stayed at OKW during marathon weekend and it was fine. We've never stayed at SS. Any ideas if the kids would like OKW or SS better, especially if we don't go to a park?

I will WL for BWV or BLT.

Didn't know this about 7/29 launch; we were toying with the idea of bumping up our August trip to see it. Sorry to hear because I doubt we will be able to work out seeing a launch now before program ends & hope also your family will not be too disappointed :sad1:

I'd definitely go to WDW over staying in Titusville :thumbsup2 We love OKW, it's our home resort and 2 bedroom villas are HUGE and balconies are also quite a bit larger than other dvc resorts. From reports here buildings 30, 32 & 33 have started interior refurbishments this week, so you never know it is possible those may be completed by the time of your trip so you may be able to request a villa that's newly done & they will have a sleeper chair added in the living room as well.

If you think your family would spend alot of time at Downtown Disney then SSR is more convenient (shorter boatride & walk) & its counter serve dining (Artist Palette) beats OKW's.

EDITED TO ADD : if you do decide to stay at OKW 1 and 2 bedroom villas in buildings numbered 30 and higher will have a second entrance into bathroom of Master Bedroom; in buildings numbered 29 & under guests would have to walk through Master Bedroom to get to that bathroom so you may want to request 30 or higher if you have guests who will be sleeping in living room so they don't need to come through MBr.

Best wishes on your planning :goodvibes

Sorry to hear your launch has been moved. Happened to us also in March. Had planned this trip knowing that on one of our down days we could see the launch. Friend who was also going down told me that it had been moved to April. With the program ending it was most likely our only chance to see this event.

We had planned to see the March launch but re-booked for the July launch when it was cancelled. Now we're in the same situation!:headache:I'm trying to see if I should just give up or pull my kids out for September.

Pull them out. It's SOOOO worth it!!!

As a Florida native, and a one-time resident of Brevard County who is very familiar with Titusville, I can confirm that WDW is even better than Titusville. (Not that there is anything wrong with Titusville!) Go to the World!

I've booked OKW and WL BWV. They do have one night at the BWV, but I hate having to move rooms. Then again maybe a WL for 1 night will be easier to get than for 2 nights. Thanks for the info on the buildings, the boys will be in the living room.

I didn't think Titusville would be great, but I wasn't sure about maybe spending the day at the KSC, Merit Island Wildlife Preserve or Cocoa Beach. Instead we will hang out at the World. We will have to find something new to do in the heat, my kids don't even like the parks anymore! (I'm not sure how they missed the Disney gene.)

We won't be trying for the September launch, but we will still try for STS134 and fly down once they give a date. I'm guessing chasing a shuttle launch from Utah will get quite expensive for a family of 5. Not to mention missing lots of school.
