Anybody ever been to the Prime Outlet stores in Lee MA? It's about 45 minutes from our house and I've never been there and wondered if it was worth the trip. :surfweb:
Is there sales tax on clothes in MA? I live in NY and they just reinstated the sales tax on clothing....bummer.:sad2:

I have to say, I have lived in the Boston all 40 years of my life and have never heard of Lee, MA. There is not any tax on clothes.

I live about an hr from Lee.. I have gone many times to the outlets. I like it bc no tax. Primeoutlets.com will show you a list of stores they have.

I live 20 minutes from the Lee Outlets and go often. Great stores in my opinion. Would be happy to answer questions. As stated before, no sales tax on clothes in MA.

I live about 45 minutes from them. I've never found great bargains--it's really not so much "outlet" as shopping venue. I can usually do better when stores have decent sales.

Not a bad place...we were there in summer '09 and got some decent prices (nothing spectacular but worth a look). It's easy to get to off the Pike.

On a side note...we were married in the Berkshires in the mid-90s and I am not thrilled with how much more built up the area has become, but I was happy that when they were building the outlets, at least they kept them out of the center of town.

Wow! I've lived in MA my entire life (Boston and South of Boston) been to many different parts of MA and I have NEVER heard of Lee, MA either!!!!:confused3

I shall assume it's way out west?????

To the two posters from MA that have never heard of Lee, MA,

With all due respect, it is this type of mentality that annoys the rest of us living outside the I495 belt. Yes, life does exist outside of Boston and the Cape!! Pick up a map, better yet, get into your car and explore your state! There is a great big beautiful state out there! If more people inside 495 came to the other part of the state they would understand why we are tired of all the funds in the state getting funneled into a very small section of MA.

Ok, rant is over.

I grew up in the Berkshires, my husband in Boston. He didn't think there was anything between Worcester and Chicago. LOL.

Ok, first off...there's no need to be rude!!!! I HAVE explored the state and like I said I have visited many parts of Mass. I also watch the news and I do not recall ever hearing the name of this town! I'm sure there are many towns in this state that I haven't heard of and I'll bet you don't know every single one in the state either!!!!!!!

Wow. There are a lot of towns I've never heard of here in Massachusetts, yet I have driven / lived in / visited every county. I don't take offense when people haven't heard of my hometown of Leicester; I'll bet there are very few who know where Freetown, Gosnold, Lancaster, or Pepperell are and none of those towns are in Berkshire, Hampshire, or Franklin counties - they're all here in the Eastern half of the state. And I'm completely used to holding my arm up to explain where in Cape Cod I live. I don't take it as a personal offense when people don't know where my town is located.

Part of the reason is that we have two different news areas - people in Western Mass don't hear as much news about what happens out here, and people here in Eastern Mass don't hear about what happens out West.

Sorry, OP - back to your question. I was just surprised by the strong reaction. Oh, and p.s. I've driven by Lee, MA on my way to Syracuse. I believe Gill is out that way too. :confused3

OP...I have been a few times and think it is fun for a couple hours.

My favorite, however, is the outlets in Wrentham. There I could spend the whole day...and have!

I apologize if those from MA that don't know the names of the towns in their home state found my comments rude, it was not my intention.

I truly find it preposterous that the names of towns are foreign to people that share a state. Especially one the size of Massachusetts. They are on the map, they are listed when you go to any state page - in alphabetical order, and there isn't that many of them. If it were sections of towns i.e. Rochdale, then maybe, but Lee? It is an off-ramp for the MA Pike, it is written on every single ticket. :confused3 I would be really embarrassed to admit I didn't know it, maybe that is just me though.

I have a hard time biting my tongue when people are rude to me for no reason. Normally I'm a very nice and considerate person!!!:littleangel:

1. I wasn't rude to you.
2. You are not showing that supposed side of you at all.

As I said, I find it amazing that people don't know the names of the towns and cities in the state of which they live, especially one the size of MA. There is nothing rude about that. If you are offended, perhaps it is as a result of your own ignorance.

How is this NOT rude?

I never put down anyone's town! I never said that my part of the state was better. I wasn't being judgmental or rude, nor did I have some sort of superior attitude. Nothing I said warranted your rude post. I was simply surprised that I had not heard of this town...and I wasn't the only one!

You took it an unnecessary step further.

As someone who grew up and lived all but their college years in the Berkshires (I"m from N. Adams and work in Pittsfield, my DH is from Adams) This was a bit uncalled for.

The ones I get annoyed at are the ones that consider Worcester as "Western MA" and think the NY border starts around where Springfield is. (and yes I have met numerous people that when being told I live an hour-hour 1/2 east of Albany went "Oh so your actually in NY"

The outlets were great when I was in HS we did alot of my shopping for school clothes there and in Holyoake since the Berkshire Mall was a joke and has gotten worse since. The stores and restaurants is what I miss about being in Rochester NY for college. (well except Chees for chinese in Adams... has anyone been there? its the best chinese food EVER)
