Facing the fact we will probably NOT fly this trip....

We're contemplating a trip in late September/early October. It will be me, DH, DS (11), DD (2), DD(infant), and DMIL. I had my heart set on flying, as it seems so quick and easy, but as I'm pricing things, I'm starting to question the sanity of doing so. In the past, before the girls, it was simple to fly, and simply use Disney transportation exclusively once we were there. My son was old enough to get around without a stroller, and the buses were satisfactory. Last year, we drove, as we had a minivan, and flights were high for the memorial day weekend when we went. It was the first trip I have ever had a vehicle onsite, and I was surprised how much we used it- DD was one at the time, and required a stroller. The monorails allowed us to use the stroller without folding it up, but other options were limited. This time we will probably stay in the cabins, so I'm leery of relying completely on Disney. I priced flights, and currently it will be just shy of $1000 for all of us to fly. Add in either the cost of a rental car for while we are there, or the cost of a towncar to take us to the store, and it just looks bleak. We would have to rent a vehicle for the roundtrip, as none of our cars can tote six, but the rental costs are cheaper than flying. I am just venting here, as I'm not a huge driving fan- it wasn't horrible last time- we left the afternoon prior to the trip and drove for five or six hours and spent the night, but drove straight home the day we left. The leaving part seems harder with driving than flying.

You can use DME and disney transport. For us it isn't that bad. If you need to rent a car you can do that. You can use a grocery service to get your food. They deliver right to the resort. Driving with infant, two year old and mother-in-law.....how much is that worth NOT to do? hehehehe $1,000? Good luck deciding.
