Okay, so I am probably the last person in the world who has not signed up for facebook & twitter. I have kind of ignored their existence until now...and I've decided to give them a try.

Anything I need to know before I sign up? Do you use your real name on both? What do you like/not like about them?

TIA.

I haven't signed up on them yet either. I spend so much time on message boards, I don't know if I really want to spend time learning them and having them take up more of my time.

They're both safe and fun sites. Facebook is like MySpace but safer, in my opinion. You can use your name on either one but I prefer to just use my first and middle name on facebook because I have DISers as friends.

If you have any questions about either one, just ask me. I'll be glad to help. :)

I agree with the PP about Facebook, I enjoy it way more than I do Myspace. As for Twitter it's really a strange site IMHO. You go on an write out things your doing and you can read what others are doing as well. It really is that simple. I have a twitter account and I think I have only left 3 tweets in the past year and a half. But if you want to follow celebrities, or family, it could be interesting I guess. Just not really for me.

Yes, you use your real name on Facebook. (I can't help you with Twitter.) That's the best way that old friends and such are going to find you. (Folks who have taken a married name generally use their maiden name as middle name in Facebook, to help folks find them.)

First thing to do when you register is to go through all the settings and lock down your security as much as you wish to. Here is a good resource:

Thanks for the info. Can you clarify this statement for me. Why just your first & middle names because you have DISers as friends?
