facebook DH accepted his mom's request on my account

How do you set it up so that they can't see status updates/etc?

Go into your Account and then Privacy Settings. Look under "Choose Your Privacy Settings" for "Sharing On Facebook", and then choose "Customize Settings" which is at the bottom of all of the items you can set different settings for. Click on the drop down box of one of the "Things I Share" items. Select "Custom". Another box will pop up and you can select who you can "exclude". Make sure you "Apply your settings" when you are done with your changes.

I also place different "friends" into different "friend lists". For example, I have a friend list for immediate family, another for close friends, another for co-workers. I can "exclude" my co-worker list so that I don't have to manually exclude each one individually.

I hope that explained it well enough!

Facebook is boundaryless and this is just another example of the problems it causes. So, you now have to p.o. your husband or his mother. I have several friends who have closed their accounts because of mistakes they have made, problems that have occured with 'friends' and my brother even had a stalker who came to him via his girlfriend's Facebook page and somehow got on his. I'm talking about a guy who actually came to his door and threatened him-all through Facebook. No Facebook here. This board is chalk full of people complaining about breaches and problems, on line affairs of their mates and children being bullied on Facebook. I don't recall the USMail, cell phones, even emails having these kinds of problems.

:thumbsup2, but people allow it to happen:confused3

I guess I'm just not as quick to hurt people.

So, anybody and everybody should be a 'friend' with full personal access, or you are mean and hurting people????? :confused3
So, personal boundaries are 'hurtful'.

I go with the old adage that I have heard many times...
You don't get to pick your family, but you get to pick your friends.
Your friends are your family that you choose.
:goodvibes

Hopefully the FB fad will go the way of the blogging fad and we'll see an end to all the crap that comes along with FB.

I know...it's just horrible...my family sees and enjoys pictures I post of the kids, I get to see pictures of their kids, we keep in touch way more often than before facebook...it's just awful..:confused3

I'd just limit what your MIL can see on your page if you feel so strongly about having her as a FB friend. That's the simplest and easiest fix, imo.
