Face wash for a tween boy?

Hi all -

DS is almost 11, and I think he needs to start getting in the habit of specifically washing his face at least once each day. Can anyone share what products their boys of the same age use? In the shower, he uses different gel body washes, so it's not like he's using Ivory soap and can just slather some on his face while showering.

Neutrogena makes a great face wash. I can't remember the exact name, but it says "oil free" on an orange tube. My DS has been using it since 11, at least. Great for pimpley or normal skin. But then again, everything by Neutrogena is great, IMO.

Agreed - this is what my 12 year old son uses. It works very well.

Our problem - if his hair rests on his forehead, he gets acne there - even with the face wash. We have to keep his hair cut short, or remind him to put gel in it to keep it off of his forehead.

We are a Phisoderm household. My DS is 9 but has some clogged pores on his nose. We use Phisoderms anti-acne face wash and I also use the scrub twice a week. You can get a 3 or 6 pack of it on Amazon for pretty cheap. I'll see if I can find the link.

I also love Neutrogena products but my DS does not like the scents of the products. He uses Clean and Clear products, they have some good face washes and products perfect for tweens/young teens.

DS also uses good ol' Sea Breeze on his mild acne on his hair line after washing his face, works well for him...

Another vote here. My older kids use the gel in a pump dispenser.

You could just put a bar of soap in the shower.

We also use the phisoderm facial cleanser. Usually I can get it at CVS or RiteAid and there is normally a $2 coupon right on the bottle. DS turned 13 this year and is having a really rough time, but when he uses it everyday at least once his issues clear up really nicely. I really like it myself.

A bar of good ole Ivory Soap should do the trick at his age. If he starts getting oily, stridex before bed

For a long time I had my son using Noxema so he didn't completely dry his skin. His cheeks get rough and dry and his forhead gets shiny and a bit oily. Now he uses a prescription cleanser that doesn't dry his face-the determatologist agreed that he should not strip all the oils and then have his skin fighting to reoil-she said that caused skin eruptions. His skin is soft, smooth and clear now at 14. He uses Dove body wash as a shower soap. Men are too hard on their skin and it ages faster than womens.
