Face sunscreen and makeup throughout the day.

What does everyone do to protect your faces throughout the day? I use sunscreen in the morning and layer with a tinted primer with more sunscreen, but I don't reapply throughout the day. My esthetician said I need to wear a wide brimmed hat, but that's inconvenient at the theme parks. I don't reapply because I feel like I'm just smooshing sweaty dirt all over my face.
Any particular products that you recommend?

I understand why you hesitate to reapply over what you are already wearing. I feel the same. So when in the parks I make a point once or twice a day to wash my face and then reapply new. I feel it protects better that way and it feels good to wash off the sweat and grime. If your products are in large containers, it’s easy enough to buy small containers to hold just enough for a couple of in park applications.

I’ve been using this. I love how lightweight it is! It’s like milky water to spray on. WDW and sunscreen has always been a struggle for me since I’m very fair and already have sun damage getting burned too many times before. But I can’t stand dealing with sticky sunscreen day after day at WDW either.



I don’t visit in summer so this is enough to protect me during our trips.

For my face I keep it simple at WDW because I often wash up midday so I can reapply fresh sunscreen. Most of the time it’s just my powder compact, mascara and lip tint. Evenings might add eyeliner and eyebrows.

I tend to break out with most "standard" sunscreens, so I often use mineral on my face (essential in Hawaii!). However, I have recently switched to Nivea Super Water Gel 50 on recommendations at reddit. I don't have a ton of experience yet, so can't say for sure, but it does seem more gentle on my skin.

It's primarily sold in Japan, but you can find US retailers who will ship it to you. Reportedly, it can be used as a makeup base as well, but I have not tried that.

I use Super Goop. It's lightweight and doesn't make me break out. The tubes can be small enough to put in a crossbody/fanny pack.
I get botox and fillers so no way do I want sun on my face LOL I also try to wear a baseball hat.

So my skin is fairest of the fair. I get burned very quickly. I have been sunburned just being in my front yard for 20 minutes.

I totally get what you are saying about putting sunscreen in skin that has been exposed all day. Yuck.

I use this in the parks. It is pretty heavy though if you don’t normally wear makeup. But I can use just this no other sunscreen on my face, 12 hours in the parks and my face never burns.


I loathe greasy sunscreen. I have recently started using Supergoop on my ears chest and neck and I can’t say enough about it. It’s amazing.

It's really not cumbersome to use a wide-brimmed hat in the parks.
What you want is a ripstop hat that can be rolled, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sunday-After.../dp/B075QHWF8H/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis?th=1&psc=1 Bonus is that it will keep your hair from going limp if you get caught in a rain shower (or on a wet ride).

If you keep a carabiner clip with you, the hat can be rolled and tied with the pull-strap, then clipped to a belt-loop, or if you carry a bag, easily tucked inside it when you are indoors. (If you like to wear yoga-type shorts/skirts without belt-loops, you can sew a small o-ring in a discreet spot near the waist to hold the clip; I do this with all of our swimsuits to hold sunglasses -- it's no harder than sewing on a button.)

As for me, I simply don't wear a makeup base in the parks, just a non-comedogenic sunblock and bit of eye makeup. Your family won't care what you look like in photos, and you're never going to see any of the other parkgoers again.

Personally, I have to disagree with this one. For my family, stuff like bad expressions and poor haircuts that are captured on family photos are fodder for being made fun of for years to come.

Yep. We are savage about this kind of stuff. We have one where my son in law looks to have tiny T-Rex arms. He is made fun of about this all the time.

Aside from jokes. For myself I am very self conscious about my photos even when my makeup is spot on, I cant imagine if it wasnt. For this its not about what they think of how I look in a photo its what I think about it.

Not WDW-related, but we have a bunch of photos from a trip to Glacier Nat'l Park in something like 2006. At the time my wife had a really bad haircut. Almost 20 years ago, and we still make fun of her for the "football helmet" look.

I don't know if you can buy Number 7 products in the US but I buy Number 7 Perfect and Protect foundation which is SPF 50. I have fair skin and red hair and I find if I apply in the morning and reapply after lunch, I don't burn. I do, however, wear a baseball cap when I'm in the sun for long periods.

I also love Supergoop. Play is my favorite for its cost effectiveness and easy to apply texture. I also bought a large sun hat from Sunday Afternoons. It folds, so is easy to deal with; can be stored simply in my backpack. Last summer I brought UV umbrellas too, reapplied sunscreen in parks, and didn’t even get a touch of burn or tan. Unlike all the many lobsters I saw eating Dole Whip at Poly.
