Face painting at AKL Mara?

Anyone done the face painting at Mara? Do you think it's worth the walk over from Kidani?

Think we might have lunch one day at Mara, do the face painting, then hit the King Pin trading in the Gift shop.....??

The walk is all of 5 minutes max. Kidani does face painting too, right in front. And ::yes:; King Pin is fun, my kids loved it. The walk between Jambo and Kidani is truly nothing. I kept reading how far it was and found that to simply not be the case.

We loved Kidani and now having stayed at both, Kidani is my favorite. We ate at Boma and Sanaa and enjoyed the pool at both but preferred Kidani's.

Thanks for the info! We are big walkers, so I think the walk will be fine (unless it's raining)....I recently looked at a map with both resorts on it and I was shocked how close they are!!!

So was the face painting just your typical rainbows and spiders or was it more themed to AKL?

Kidani was really awesome. Even the kids enjoyed it more than Jambo which surprised me. My son did all of the bead activities between the two resorts and was able to attend a pool party at both. Kidani won hands down. He's 11 but pretty insightful for a little nugget. The face painting was more resort themed from what we saw. Our two teenage daughters also preferred Kidani but that could have been because they had their own bathroom.

I wish I knew how to post photos because I have a couple of cute ones of 2 of my girls on our Aug. 2011 trip when they had their faces painted there. They really liked it - ages 8 and 7 at the time. We had to kind of watch for the face-painter as she was pretty low-key and unobtrusive, but we found her and were her only customers at first! She had a small cart that she wheeled in with all the supplies. The girls got to pick their colors (she must have had a dozen or more colors to choose from), and then she did the design -- a series of alternating colored dots (she dipped the end of a Q-tip into a little cup of the paint and then did dots on their faces) that ran from the cheek on one side across their nose and above the eyebrow on the other side. Then one had a flower and one had a butterfly (on the cheek where the dots were above the eyebrow). It was very unique and they loved it. It was very quick, and absolutely free. I'm sure they would do it again!

There are arrows pointing and a sidewalk path. Easy peasy- you can't miss it.

They do have a bus that runs between the two but we didn't take it. DH says its a 6 minute walk but I swear it's not over 5. I should have timed it- lol!

Oh cool! I love discovering new stuff on the DIS We just put in for a rental at AKL DVC and we haven't even heard back if we have gotten it yet, but just the idea is getting me SO excited. I am crossing my fingers!!!
