Fabric Softener

Uh-oh, another red button topic.

Yes! Downey! Liquid! They did just change the recipe recently which gave me migraines for a month but I'm ok now.

Love the smell!!! Put your flame suit on , however, this could get bumpy!

I just tried the Purex crystals - they go in with the detergent. My laundry smells like lavender - love it :yay:

And it says it is safe for children's clothes (I don't have any. Children, not clothes)

I don't use it. I try to make laundry as low-maintenance as possible. I do use dryer sheets though...I don't know if that's an adequate replacement. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to household chores.

We stopped using it after one of my family members got a rash. The dermatologist told him to stop using fabric softener (even dryer sheets).

I have to say I haven't noticed a difference in softness and my clothes still smell nice.

We had to stop using it when DD developed a bad ezcema rash. We use dryer balls now and they work just as well, if not better.

I use Downey liquid, but I'm open to other softeners! :lmao:

Love love love Downy!!! But sometimes I will go a little cheaper and use Snuggle Exhilaration, but Downy is my fav!

Gain is awesome too, but cost too much.

After I had a washer repair and saw all the black, greasy stuff in my washing machine parts from the Downey, I stopped using it. If you add some white vinegar in the rinse cycle, your clothes will smell fresh and they won't be full of static. That said, I really do miss that Downey smell!! White vinegar is also really good for deodorizing all your lycra stuff like bike shorts. Just soak in white vinegar and water for a hour or so before washing, and they will smell great!

I use vinegar in my home machine. But when I go to the laundrymat I use fabric softener.

Did you not hear about the recall on that? Something about the crystals they used having something wrong with them. :scared1:

I love the smell of Downy Lavendar Vanilla. Tide used to have a detergent with that scent. I miss it terribly. I just use the dryer sheets now.

As a former, long-time Unilever employee, I stick to Snuggle when I use softener. It smells better than any other fabric softener (especially Downy ;) ), and I like the Snuggle bear. I even have a ceramic figurine of him in my China cabinet.

I don't put softener in my loads of towels and sheets. It reduces the absorbency of the towels, and I don't know why, but you're not supposed to use softener on 400 thread count sheets.
