Fabric Softener

I can not use any thing to strong or i get an instant headache. I use snuggle liquid, but never in the towels.

I use it for the towels too....they absorb just fine!:thumbsup2

Love it, but I'm too lazy to go back down the stairs to add it.

Unless it's changed, my mom used to have us add it during the rinse cycle - in fact she'd have us turn the dial back to do a second rinse cycle. I hated doing that, so when I moved out on my own, I never ran back down to add it during the rinse cycle.

Is that how it's still done? I have no idea! I never use it!:rotfl:

I use drier balls. The Snuggle sheets I used to use (and loved the smell of) made DS itchy.

I've never tried the liquid, as I like to just throw the laundry in and forget for for an hour - and don't you have to add that at a certain time?

I use a Downy ball, you just put it in the ball, toss it in the washing machine at the beginning and you're done with it! :thumbsup2

hmmm... I guess I'm the only one... I HATE fabric softener. I hate the way it makes the clothes smell. Then get a sweaty kid wearing a fabric softener-smelling shirt, and I want to pass out.

I only use non-fragrance dryer sheets (just to get rid of static). I'd rather our clothes smell like... nothing - I guess.

Must use dryer sheets, but I have to be careful with the scents.. Some will give me a headache - others make me sick to my stomach.. "Brand" loyalty doesn't factor into my decision at all - just the scent and the performance..

We ran out here one day last week and DD just happened to be in CVS.. Her DH called to tell her and she picked up a box of their brand.. Can't remember the name of the scent she chose, but it was very nice and they are working quite nicely..

Some of the best I have purchased have been "no name" - even some very large boxes in the Dollar stores..:thumbsup2 I also use them for other things, so I'm always on the look out for the biggest box - at the best price..:goodvibes

Can't use them here - too many allergies. Some of the scents sound wonderful! We can light candles tho - but that's another thread! ;)

I use the Costco Kirkland brand of softener and with the exception of the UnderArmour athletic gear I use it on all other loads including towels.

I didn't use fabric softener for years and years and now, I can't believe I never did. The difference in the towels alone is soooo nice.

I also use dryer sheets on everything except towels and I add white vinegar to every single wash load.

Downy liquid (although I hate the new April Fresh scent), and Bounce dryer sheets!

Whatever we can get on sale...but I have a preference for anything lavender..though Snuggle has recently come out with a Berry scent that is amazing.!

I just tried the Purex crystals - they go in with the detergent. My laundry smells like lavender - love it :yay:

And it says it is safe for children's clothes (I don't have any. Children, not clothes)

We love it also, it seems to work.

Uh-oh, another red button topic.

Put your flame suit on , however, this could get bumpy!

Were these meant as jokes? How can anyone flame someone over FABRIC SOFTNER?!

OP - I love fabric softner but it's rare that I can use it. I have contact allergies and it can make me break out. I used to use white vinegar as a softner but quit because I couldn't take the vinegar smell in the laundry area when it released from the Downy ball. You couldn't smell it on the clean clothes, though. Now, I use nothing. I do have some bottles of the Downy with a yellow cap. I use it occasionally on sheets/blankets or on the kids coats and the like when I get ready to pack them for the season. Just 1/4 of the recommended amount in the Downy ball for a fresh scent.

After I had a washer repair and saw all the black, greasy stuff in my washing machine parts from the Downey, I stopped using it. If you add some white vinegar in the rinse cycle, your clothes will smell fresh and they won't be full of static. That said, I really do miss that Downey smell!! White vinegar is also really good for deodorizing all your lycra stuff like bike shorts. Just soak in white vinegar and water for a hour or so before washing, and they will smell great!

I am sensitive to fragrance. I use a small amount of Downey (blue cap) and then fill the rest of the downey ball 2/3 full with white vinegar. The vinegar really does make the clothes softer and I still get a fresh scent that isn't too strong. :laundy:
