My 4th grader has half of her class out with the flu. We stand better odds at DW, assuming we stay healthy until we get there!Y'all should just stay home if you're scared of the flu. Nature will take its course as usual. And if you stay home my line to Slinky Dog will be shorter.

That's how I'm feeling right now. Our school has it bad, full of people that she comes in close contact with every single day. So I'm almost feeling like Disney might be the lesser of two "evils" as far as germs goes!!
It’s hard to wash your hands often at Disney. We do wash ours when at the restroom and I also use hand sanitizer. I’m not sure it helps but I get sick less than other people in my family who don’t use it.And the flu vaccine does not help against all the different mutations of the virus, so the best thing is just to wash your hands as often af possible
That’s what we do and also get them from Bath and Body. I try not to touch any railings at Disney, but sometimes you have to hold on to something on the thrill rides. We get out the hand sanitizer after we get off rides or sit down for a break.. We also wash our hands in the restrooms before we eat, but hand sanitizer is used a lot at Disney.I highly recommend grabbing some hand sanitizers and the holders at Bath and Body Works. We hang one of each person's Camelbak so that we can use the often.
They closed down the elementary school in my town because 40% of kids were out sick this week. Influenza A and B. So crazy! My 4th grader has half of her class out with the flu. We stand better odds at DW, assuming we stay healthy until we get there!
I think there's a balance to strike too, especially with kids. Don't go crazy sanitizing every surface in the house year round. Just take extra care outside your house during active cold/flu season.
Some germ exposure is probably best for our health. One of the first studies was done over 100 yrs ago that showed children from larger families were less likely to get severely sick, probably due to increased exposure and getting dirty more often. And now hearing about the rise in auto-immune disorders, some specialists are thinking it's linked to not having enough immune exposure. Like most things in life... germs in moderation.
Same here in Ohio. Schools are in towns all around us. They need to clean the schools with disinfectant and have all students wash their backpacks, coats, hats ..etcThey closed down the elementary school in my town because 40% of kids were out sick this week. Influenza A and B. So crazy!
Flu’s seem to be getting worse though causing more deaths. Just saw on the news 8 deaths in TN from it. Then there is the one from China that has some cases in the US now. I’m not anxious over it though, but being aware and taking precautions .Discussion boards have a tendency to get people worked up over things, it seems. The flu is a fact of life, and has been for the last 60 years I have been alive. It seems that people forget that having anxiety over things like the flu can actually make you MORE likely to get infected.
