F&W Serving Sizes?

I'm trying to anticipate our snack credit usage and OOP costs for our upcoming trip during the F&W festival.

We're doing a quick weekend trip and will have one day in Epcot. We have the free QSDP and right now have 3 snack credits per personal allotted for the afternoon, replacing lunch.

I'm just wondering, what are the serving sizes like for the F&W items? On average, how many do you find yourself eating to replace a meal? Will we be hungry with only 3 credits each and I should likely budget for OOP additional costs?

If you spend an afternoon at the festival, how many dishes do you usually get?

Thanks!:goodvibes

To replace a full sit down meal?
For me, 5-6 items.
My girlfriend was satisfied from about 3 and she's small.

DH & I usually SHARE 8 or 9 things plus a few beverages and leave pretty full. SO that's about 4 to 4 1/2 things each. We are not HUGE eaters. I don't think you will leave full on just 3 things each but it depends. Some things aren't more than 4 or 5 bites and some things are pretty filling and more like 7 or 8bites.

I agree that in general, most dishes are about 3 to 5 bites. Some are bigger than others, so it really varies by item. If you are "big" eaters, then three items per person will likely not be enough. If you're "small" eaters, then three items might be enough. Personally, I would plan on closer to 4 savory samples and one dessert sample per person if it's replacing a full lunch.

Here are a few examples from past years:

Disney Food Blog has photos of all offerings from 2013.

I'm glad you asked this because it has been bugging me too. I love Disney Food Blog and while I find the pictures to automatically induce a rumbly in my tumbly they aren't very good indicators of the portion size. One scallop on a plate is pretty easy to determine but a random piece of beef or fish is extremely difficult to tell. We too are planning on sampling for lunch as we have dinner reservations. Now the hard part is whittling down my list of the 27 different things I want to try...any opinions on that?

Good luck! I have over 50 items to try!!

looks like they need to start taking photos with a ruler in the picture. Like crime scene photos.

We share each item so we both get to taste 8 or 9 things per visit. we also share beverages unless its a beer I don't like, then Chris gets it all! We went 6X spread out over our last visit. For the first 4 visits I had planned which booths we would stop at (giving consideration to their placement around the world showcase) and knew roughly what we would order. This way we weren't wandering aimlessly +/or FULL before we got 1/3 of the way around. Then the last 2 visits we hit all of our favorites that we wanted MORE of. It was such a great time and no stress of where to stop, just had to follow the plan ("NO Japan tonight Honey, that's tomorrow night!!":rotfl:)

There will be 3 adults and 1 2.5 yo. We will be on the dining plan and will have 21 snack credits available. We had originally planned our vacation to avoid F&W because of our son but then they added a week. We only have one day devoted to Epcot so I would love to try as much as possible. I figure between the three adults we should be able to at least get a couple of bites of each serving and perhaps try 15-18 different things for lunch? I'm excited to try all the food  just trying to figure out the best way to manage as we have never been during the festival before.

Last year, we went to F&W with 4 adults and 2 kids. Between the six of us, I'd estimate more than 5 but less than 10 portions. Though none of us have huge appetites, and we'd eaten a big breakfast at Akershus.

It adds up... especially when you throw in a few drinks!

I don't think, for most servings, 3 adults will each get a couple of bites each. I think that is more than an average serving.
Good Luck

Remembering from our visit, the serving containers were usually about the size of a 3x5 index card - usually 3 - 4 good bites per serving. Some items were larger - I remember the sausage in a pretzel bun was a good portion. Most of the pictures are using those containers.

Well, if it helps you to envision the size....those round plates in the photo above is a dessert size plate, about 5" diameter. The cardboard thing that looks like what nachos tend to come in....that is also about 5" length.
