I have a few days where Im planning on having my main meal of the day at the F&W Fest. I know about the Greek salad. What else is healthy?
And how would you make an inexpensive ($15/20) meal from the booths? In other words what has good portions of healthy food?

With 15-20 dollars, I think you can make a very decent meal out of booth samplings, as long as you stay clear of some (say, the lobster roll!). Most items are about 3-4 dollars, so you are going to be able to get between 4-6 menu items. While the portions are smallish, that's enough to make a meal for me.

As far as what is healthy, I would look at the menu boards and decide for myself. My gut tells me that many of the vegetarian offerings (three sisters soup Tomatican, etc) are probably very healthy but, not being the chef, I could not tell you for certain if there are any hidden ingredients in them that would make them less healthy. But if you get the festival cookbook when you arrive (or even browse it just to pick your items out) you will be able to figure out which ones are acceptable for yourself.

Have fun!

People go to theme parks to eat HEALTHY food? ;) Nooooooo, Barb - the F&W is where you enjoy all the delectable desserts at each booth! That's what I plan to do. :teeth:

I'm very disappointed in the dessert offerings this year. There is no chocolate except the Duo of Truffles(definitely not worth the money). I think Disney is taking their healthy eating a bit to far. Replacing the Creme Brulee in France with Sorbet is just plain nuts IMO. Explain to me how a double cheeseburger, the staple of many CS, is healthy!

I did enjoy that chocolate creme brulee the last 2 years at the booth in France! Fortunately, the Patisserie in France has had vanilla creme brulee the last few times I visited for ~ $3.50 - and the portion was bigger than what was sold at the F&W.

Whatever you do - skip the "donut" in Poland...blech!

My favorite entree has been the chilaquiles in Mexico. Only 3 more days, and I'll be having it for lunch! :)

There are quite a few options I'd consider healthy (like the chicken durban in South Africa). Though that is a small portion - others are better.

The green mint tea in England is very good, but not available for a credit on the DDP.

There were quite a few dessert options, I had a Dulce de Leche, which was decent. China has caramel and ginger ice cream. India has rice and coconut pudding. South Africa has spice cake. I'm just going through country by country, the pics on my site - and almost every booth has dessert. The booths do not always have the same items year to year, which could be the reason that France has something else.

I totally agree! I always looked forward to the Choc. Creme Brulee in France, and I liked that it was a small size, so I could eat other stuff. 2 years ago there was a chocolate creme cake somewhere too, I think at Sam Adams that was to die for, and that's gone too. I want chocolate! The truffles were ok, but not what I want for dessert.

Chocolate fan here, too! I remember in 2004, there was a booth (Piedmont?) that had flourless chocolate cake and two other chocolate desserts, and they were to die for! Sure wish they would come back!

Ah yes, I ate that too, that was in Ireland I believe. Between that, the Sam Adam cake and the creme brulee I was in chocolate heaven!!!

In answer to the original question, you can definitely find enough food at the F&W to fill you up for a meal. We always have a dinner of samples when we go.

You're right - they had flourless chocolate cake in Ireland in 2005. But there was a booth called the Piedmont (part of Italy I think) that had 3 chocolate desserts in 2004 - and that booth hasn't been back since then.

I just got back from the F&WF. The greek salad was delicious, but I wouldn't say that it was too healthy. It had a lot of dressing on it. Now that I think about it, I don't think that I ate too many healthy things.
