A gift card has a set spending limit
F&W is a huge local draw, and a gift card is a simple way to cover an event that spans several months
If the system goes down, you can still make purchases

Just a quick note about this last point -- there are times when it's ALL down: where they cannot accept MBs, nor gift cards or credit cards. This seems to be happening less often over time, but this is the reason we always carry a bit of cash just in case.
