"Eating greens is a special treat. It makes long ears and great big feet. But it sure is awful stuff to eat” Thumber, Bambi

And that quote is basically what sums up my family’s eating style! All meat and potatoes and very few salads and greens. Hi everyone! Welcome to my first ever dining review. Thanks to everyone on the boards who has offered me advice on what and where to eat at the World! We will be going back to Disney October 24th through 31st. 8 long days! We booked during free dining, so we made lots of good ADR’s. Also, we are excited to go for our first F&W. But more on that later!

So the eaters. First, there is me, Katie. I’m 24 years old, and am the main planner of this trip. I love all seafood (which you will see in abundance at the F&W fest post. MMM lobster rolls, escargot, shrimp tacos, and more are calling my name! I’m a very meat and potatoes person as well. The only salad I like is a ceaser salad. I like to stick to the foods I know, and won’t be ordering foods out of my comfort zone. And I don’t like anything with cheese. Yuck. I also like sweets, but have to be in the mood for them. MK is my favorite park, with Epcot being a close second.

Next is my DH, Corey Sr. He is 26 years old and also a meat and potatoes person. Expect him to have a lot of steaks. He LOVES breakfast, that is his favorite meal of the day. He also likes seafood and salty food. Not a big fan of sweets. In fact, I’ll be surprised if he eats anything that is sweet, (except slushees. He loves his slushees.) All his deserts will probably be boxed up later for the kids to eat in the room. He also is a beer drinker, so expect a few reviews from him during the F&W fest. His favorite type of meal is buffets, which is what about 1/2 of our TS meals will be.

Corey Jr (6) will be one of our diners too! While I am semi-disappointed with the kids meal options that they have, he is not! However, I’m sure he’ll be eating off of our plates. He is more of an adventurous eater. Doesn’t like anything spicy. Expect a lot of pasta and chicken nuggets from this kid. He loves, loves, LOVES sweets. Especially cupcakes, so you know we will be hitting Starring Rolls and Main Street Bakery with him. Sometimes he eats nothing, sometimes he eats everything in sight. So I'm interested to see how this will work out on the trip...

Last but not least, is my DB, Chris. He is turning the big 1-3 so this is his birthday trip! So we will be getting lots of cupcakes with our meals, I expect. He is yet another meat and potatoes person. Loves chicken, steak, nothing to out there. I suspect he will order a lot of chicken nuggets and burgers. He is not a daring eater at all. No weird sauces or spices. Also into the sweets. He loves coke, and we'll probably get it with every meal.

Here’s a pic of my small family at Rose and Crown (DH’s fave restaurant from last trip):

And here’s a pic of my DS and DB (yes, he’s a bear fan. Traitor.):

The next post will contain our plans and as soon as I write the reviews, I’ll make them into links!

So, like I said we booked free dining. We will be staying at POR, so we will probably eat at their food court a few times. I had all my dining reservations set when the DH gave the go ahead on our trip, but I thought we would go the week before (the 17th-24th). So we could actually be there on DB’s birthday, the 17th. But FD was black out that week I learned ahead of time, with again much thanks to the Dis. So I scrambled to go make our ressies before the general public figured out what the dates were. The only absolute must have for us was CP on the first day for breakfast. That’s our tradition! And I was able to get it before park opening. DH requested Rose and Crown again, but other than that let me have free reign on these decisions, just with the request that we had more than one breakfast and he likes buffets. DB and DS didn’t really care either. So without further ado, here are our plans. And they probably will change while we are there, just to warn you. Not really sure on which QS we will definitely eat at so I didn’t add a lot of meals yet, but I have some guesses!

thank you! And trust me, there will be a lot of steaks!

So we got to POR no problem the very first day. Got checked into our room and we hit the food court even before we went to the room. It was 1:30 and we were starving! DH didn't want to eat before or during the plane ride because he got sick the last time he was on a plane and wanted to avoid doing that again.

First meal was a snack at POR food court.
We got two quick service meals between four of us to share, since we are all super hungry.

First was a bacon angus cheeseburger. The DH asked for no barbeque sauce, but they put it on anyways. He wasn't to happy but he still ate it. They also gave him three huge onion rings on the burger, along with the fries. Do they usually do that? For dessert we got a brownie and a coke. Our verdict? It seemed like it was under the heat lamps for a long time. None of it seemed fresh.

DS ate the brownie though, and was singing it's praises. He said it was good and chocolaty! I had a small bite and it was very moist and good.

Second meal was the Disney pepperoni pizza with a chocolate chip cookie and a coke zero. The pizza was good, standard greasy pizza. DB said it was greasy. I liked it. Chocolate chip cookie was hard. Blech.

Analysis: just ok. DH kept comparing it to Pop's food court, finding POR's lacking.

subscribed! what a lovely family!!! Can't wait to hear all of your dining adventurers. I am the same way, meat and potatoes type of girl. I don't even like salad at all. I don't do lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. But Disney has so many great choices that I never go hungry. I don't do seafood either and pretty picky about ethnic foods.

DS and DH eat everything and anything. So I lucked out there! I did love all the choices at Food and Wine though- found a ton to enjoy!

Hi! Thanks for subscribing. We got back and lovvved the Food and Wine fest, we did two days of it. We didn't make it all the way around the world because I got sick the 2nd day (no, not from drinking to much!) but we did get to sample a lot.

OK, so we got back and I'm back to the real world today. And let's just say it was a reality check.

Overall the trip went pretty good. The boys fought constantly, which was very trying. But we loved the food and hit almost everything we wanted to hit. See the previous post for the changes we made to our ADR's. changes are in red.

What we did for the CS, which worked pretty well for us, was to just get 3 adult meals and split them between the 4 of us. So we really didn't have a lot of kid meals. Ok, will make my next review later on today or tomorrow. But first I need to upload all my pictures! And I'm sorry to say sometimes I was a little lax on taking the pictures of the food. I think I only got pics of about 80% of what we ate. But I'll still make it work!

Count me in! We were there the same time, wasnt the weather great?

Joining in!! Love the name of your review, i'm in agreement with Thumper!!

And could they be any cuter????? I think not! Adorable.

Can't wait to read your food reviews. I'm a huge meat and potatoes type of gal, and don't go outside of my comfort zone much. My husband is a hugely adventurous eater, so he makes up for my lack of it!

So we all went swimming and hung out at the resort until we decided to head on over to DD on the boat for dinner and a little bit of shopping. We did somes shopping first and made our way over to the west side to Wulfgang Pucks for dinner. The family was NOT happy about having to hoof it all the way over there. Should have taken the boat that goes from one side to the other, but oh well.(Sorry about these pictures being kind of blurry! I'm not that good at photography... they get better later! I promise!)

So we got there and we ordered 3 meals again, 2 adults and one kids.

I ordered the chicken ceaser salad with a yogurt parfait for desert. I LOVED this salad. The lettuce was crisp and crunchy, the dressing tasted good and they gave you the right amount of chicken. I pulled this one out of the to-go fridge since they don't make these salads fresh.

My DS ate the yogurt parfait and he liked it. Nothing special, but I had a few bites and thought it was good.

DH got the Rotisserie Turkey Cobb and said it was good. Not great, but good. Again gave us a lot of meat and the portion was huge! He took it back to the room for a midnight snack.

disneyworldoct11111.jpg

DB and DS shared the pepperoni pizza. This stuff was AMAZING. We love thin crust pizzas, and this one was perfect. It had just the right amount of toppings, a thin cracker crust and was delicous! We did not have any left overs of this.

disneyworldoct11109.jpg

We also had two choc chip cookies that we took home for dessert to eat later. They were ehhh. Kind of hard.

Analysis: Great service, great pizza! Salads were good. Deserts were ok. Would def go back! Only this time, we would take the boat and not walk over.
We got 2 choc chip cookies that we took to the room later for snacks.

Enjoying your reviews.Just a FYI there is another Wolfgang Puck Express closer to the boat launch in the Marketplace (no need to let the rest know that until the next visit;) )

whaaaa? where? How come I didn't know this! I blame the DIS boards for not making me aware of this earlier. ;)

Great reviews so far! I was going to subscribe to your review anyway but then seeing your adorable DS in the Packers jersey sealed the deal! :lmao: I must agree that Wolfgang Puck has excellent pizza - I had the meatball pizza and I think it was the best pizza I've ever had! And I must tell you that I was even looking for the other WP Express in the marketplace area and my sister and I got to talking and we totally missed it! But the other WPE is great too! Excited to read more!

Oh yeah, he lives and breathes by the Packers! Good to see another Wisconsinite on the DIS :) And I think we will go there next time and I will get a pizza instead of a salad. It was sooo good. And I'll have to look for the other WPE next time, instead of trekking all the way across DD.
