Should also note that if you are into that sort of thing or just want to avoid the marathon crowds, the Wine and Dine Half Marathon has been moved for 2012 from the first weekend to the last weekend. It will take place November 9 - 10.

Should also note that if you are into that sort of thing or just want to avoid the marathon crowds, the Wine and Dine Half Marathon has been moved for 2012 from the first weekend to the last weekend. It will take place November 9 - 10.

Also, they've added another run for that first weekend so if you're looking to avoid race crowds/traffic both the first and last weekends will be affected, though the first weekend to a lesser extent because the race and after-party are at Studios.

Yeah, since it's not at Epcot I figured there wouldn't be much competition except for resort rooms. I'd been putting off calling to book for the last weekend, but with the popularity of the race, rooms near Epcot may start going fast (and the DVC runners who already booked their Wine & Dine rooms at 11 months may be looking to change). Looks like they're turning WDW over to the runners. I don't know how much they pay to register for these races, but I think it's substantial and they fill them up.

I suggest going October 1st, 2nd or 3rd. You will find fewer lines at the food kiosks than you would if you went the evening of opening weekend. Weekdays will always be a more pleasant experience.

Our last trip we arrived at BCV on Saturday morning 10/17/09 rather than Sunday morning on all previous F&W trips, and proceeded directly to Epcot while waiting for our room to be ready. Crowds were much larger on Saturday. Check the other parks for EMH or MNSSHP and visit F&W on days the other parks have these events on week days.
