i made reservations but thought it was just to buy anything off the menu until i saw on another thread that it is a package that consists of a set meal.

the reservations are for Mama Melrose...can someone tell me what is included in the meal?

also, can you pay for this with the dining plan? we will have the regular dining plan.

i am mainly just doing this to avoid waiting in a long line at F!.

We have done the Fantasmic Package at Mama Melrose three of our last four trips. We have ALWAYS ordered off the regular menu.

You can order anything off the menu... you order one of each of the following: appetizer, entree and dessert.
It is just that the F! dinner pkg meal is in essence a "package", and you pay a set price for the three courses of the meal. But you can order any of the choices within these catagories. I hope I didn't confuse you! :upsidedow

Will they charge my 10 year old daughter as an adult or a child? Will they let her order from the children's menu for the fantasmic package?

I recommend the F! dinner package...

I would investigate into the PP that said appetizers were a part of the meal....I think they are not anymore as they have changed the dining plan...

BUT I do Recommend the F! dinner package....Have a magical visit!

While it's true the appetizers are no longer included in the basic DDP, there are a few times you can still get them, i.e. the Fantasmic pkgs, the Prix Fix 3 course choices at Chef's de France, and the Chef's Favorite's at Le Cellier. At Chef's de France and Le Cellier though, you must choose from the appetizers, entrees, and desserts listed, as they allow absolutely no substitutions. With the Fantasmic pkgs at Mama Melrose (one credit) and Brown Derby (two credits) you can choose any appetizer, unless it specifies it's for two people, in which case two people must used their credits to order it.

As posted above, on the basic plan you currently DO get an appetizer as part of the Fantasmic package only. If you have a regular reservation at Mama Melrose or Brown Derby on the basic dining plan you are not entitled to an appetizer - if you have the package you are.

It's a set price (or the regular number of dining credits alloted for the restaurant you chose) but you order from the regular menu.

You need to have a Fantasmic reservation, a "regular" one isn't the same even though it's at the same resturant. They generally book up very fast. I tried at 7am 90 days ahead and they were all booked for my trip. I was able to get a "regular" one. I also think the latest you can book is 5pm for a Fan. reservation.

The child portions here are very small. Your 10 will need an adult meal. If you pay OOP, you can order a child's meal. Most likely it won't be enough

Ok, just some im sure on this. I booked a fantasmic package for January 3rd. When we get to the restaurant are we able to order from the menu, or is this a prix fixe deal where we pay an upfront cost and then select from a list? We are not on the dining plan and are paying out of pocket. If this is the case, what are the selections?

My understanding is that you can order anything you want from the menu -- as stated above, an appetizer, an entree and dessert. But the price is fixed whether what you choose costs more or less than the fixed price.

your mileage may very....

we had a F! package at Mama Melrose on Oct 2009. We were told we could order ANY appy including those "for 2" as a single meal credit. My mother ordered the antipasta and I ordered a mixed greens salad and we shared them.

For the package you get to choose an appitizer, meal, na drink and dessert. On the regular DDP it's one credit. I know when I booked I had to leave a CC as a guarantee and was told the meal was something like 45 for each adult. I don't remember exactly as we had the DDP.

regards

We did the MM F! package in September, although we were on the (regular, free) dining plan. We each got an appetizer, entree, and dessert and could pick anything on the menu.

I've heard that if you want a "for two" appetizer, then it must be shared between 2 people, but we didn't order one (we each got our own) so I don't know.

i called the dining hotline today and was told this:

on the reg. dining plan you can choose the same as you would at any other place: an entree, drink, and dessert

if not on the dining plan you can order whatever you want...no price minimum....but then she said: well you can't go in and order one app for 4 people...you'd need to get something reasonable.

well, to me that sounds contradicotry...and definitely contradictory to what i read on here.

i believe you all :worship:

On the DDP part, people have reported being allowed to get an appetizer with the F! package. Whether that's at the discretion of the server and might not be true everywhere, I don't know.

But the 2nd part is totally wrong - CM misinformation. You pay a fixed price and order what you want. The way she/he was describing it -- it would not be a fixed price and that is definitely wrong. Now there might be some limitations on the menu when you get there but I haven't seen anyone report that (for example, on the CP packages you can't order lobster).

We just did the Fantasmic dining package at Mama Melrose during Thanksgiving week and were on the free basic dining package. We were told to order a drink, appetizer, entree and dessert per person. When we ordered an app for 2 - it counted for two of us.
Hope this helps.

yes, all this information helps!

i just want to understand the "small print" and it is irritating when the CM does not know. i don't blame the CM but the overall disney dining information should be written out for the CM to see or for customers to see on the official Disney World website

This is what we were told about appetizers as well. We ate at MM on 11/30 using the F! package.
