I know I am not savy in the ways of the modern world, but what in the heck is eyebrow threading? I was checking the junk mail before tossing and saw an ad for a beauty salon that stated they now did eyebrow threading.

Can't for the life of me figure out either how or why! :confused3

I have had it done. The lady just takes a piece of thread and is able to go in and pluck your eyebrows. I didnt find it to hurt anymore that waxing does and it lasted longer. Its also really fast.

It is a form of hair removal (obviously eyebrows) that originated in India. The lady takes a spool of thread and unwinds a long string. She somehow twists the thread in a manner that will pull out the eyebrow hair. I have had it done, but I don't know exactly what the technique is. I think it hurts less than waxing, but it is not totally painless. Also, around here, it is really cheap- only $6 or $8.

OK, thanks for the info. I was letting my imagination take over and pictured something like hair extensions woven into the eyebrows!
I'll go back under my rock now.... :teeth:

You weren't alone. I thought they were "threading" in thread to hold jewely in..like piercing the eybrow many times..you know triming the eyebrow LOL.

They insert these threader earrings.

Its phenomenal! The *perfect* groomed brows, come from threading. It's absolutely phenomenal.

They hold the thread almost in a figure-8, and pop, pop, pop them all out - twisting and turning the thread... Its hurts though!!

I just saw a special channel flipping on eyelash extensions it was very expensive and looked like torture.

Oh it does hurt! First time I had it done I was sitting there, tears drooling like running tap water, from the eye they were working on thinking "Ill just let her finish this one, and Ill go home and do the other one, with tweezers - just get through this one eye..."

The she handed me a mirror whe she was done with eye one. Trying not to look at the mascara which had now smeared all the way down to my cheek - my eye brows looked GOOOOD!

I handed her the mirror back - took a deep breath and allowed her to carry on to brow two. :teeth:

Am I the only one who's never had their eyebrows done at all? :confused3

I hate getting my eyebrows done. I used to go with my friends to get our eyebrows waxed and it killed me and they acted like it was pain-free. I now just pluck my eyebrows, which is a little easier to deal with because I'm inflicting the pain on myself. Apparently I don't like it when other people are trying to hurt me. Maybe I'll look into the threading, I've never heard about it before. Does it take a long time? I could never not do anything to my eyebrows. It drives me crazy to have one hair out of place. They have all of these new smilies, they need a scraggly eyebrow or unibrow smiley. :lmao:

If you mean professionally, then nope, I've never been! I do my own with my tweezers. I've been told quite a few times that I have nicely shaped eyebrows!

Nope. Mine are pretty thin and I just can't see paying to clean up a couple stragglers. I get a facial every month, so if I wasn't doing the job I'm sure they'd try to sell it to me.
