are there times that the ice cream or soda stations are closed? can I have ice cream for breakfast, get a soda at 3 am?

Drink station is 24 hours. That covers soda, coffee, hot water, etc. The Eye Scream does close, though I don't know the exact hours. It is closed roughly 10pm to 10am, give or take an hour on each side.

thank you, that feels like an early close for the ice cream, but I'll make the most of the other 12 hours lol

I just checked some recent navigators on disneycruiselineblog. Magic/Wonder the Eye Scream seems to mostly be open 10:30AM-11PM; Dream/Fantasy it is open 11AM to 11PM or Midnight.

They clean out the machines each evening, which is why they're shut down. I sadly discovered this on the Alaska cruise late at night...I went to the machine and discovered that there had been blueberry that day...but he was cleaning out the machine then. I did get some of the Banana that was still there...but would have preferred the blueberry...and it was the 'only' blueberry day.

oh, I didn't realize that it would be on them, thank you!
(and I'm vicariously sad for your blueberry ice cream) hopefully I can get some this May!

Yes, it's on the page with all the locations/hours. My favorite day was the Pineapple/coconut day! Now I'm reminded that I'll need to look at the ice cream flavors 'earlier' in the day when we're on the Magic this summer...I'll be hoping there's blueberry on there just so I can try it!

Just like the pools, there is really no good reason for the ice cream station not to be open 24 hours. They can close it briefly for cleaning and to change flavors at some point during the overnight hours, but then it should re-open. Same thing with the pools/hot tubs.

I have only been on 2 cruises but both time they only had one flavor other than chocolate/vanilla. And that other flavor was the same for all days. Do they usually switch? One was a 7 day cruise. And both cruises it was the same flavor. Strawberry/banana.

I don't know about usually. Our 7 nt Alaskan cruise on the Wonder had vanilla/chocolate and the other machine switched off blueberry/banana, strawberry/banana, and pineapple coconut/?. Strawberry/banana was more often than the others though.

I disagree. I believe they limited the hours on the ice cream station because of the manpower needed to keep the area clean. That area needs constant attention. I would hate that one individual had to work overnight just in case a passenger had an ice cream craving at 3 am.

So you think it needs the same level of attention at 3am as it does at 3pm? It's a self-serve area, same as the drink station. It doesn't need someone stationed there every single moment. During the overnight hours they would only need someone to pass through every couple of hours and wipe things down.

I agree that the hours could sometimes be longer. I sorta wish there were more food options open later, esp. on cruises that have later night itineraries, like Alaska where it's not even dark until after 10:00pm. We would go down to the pub for the late night snacks, and only find buffalo wings and celery sticks. If your enjoying early dinner seating, but staying up through an Adults only activity until 1:00am, a snack would be nice. It's a minor thing, and wasn't a make or break, but yes I went looking for ice cream once after 11:00pm and was sad there was nothing to snack on. I know room service was an option, but really you sometimes just want to grab something on the way to those late night adult events. Snacks please!

The pools close when the lifeguards are off duty. I don't think that's unreasonable.

While I disagree, I am willing to relent when it comes to the family/kids pools. However, for the adults-only Quiet Cove pool/hot tubs, it's totally unreasonable. An unfortunate consequence of an overly-litigious society, I guess, where personal responsibility is a thing of the past. If adults want to go sit in a hot tub at midnight, they should be able to do so (especially since there is so little else to do at that time).

I wish there was more late food options too. We traveled with my older niece and our smaller kids. She would stay out with Vibe and the Vibe groupuntil midnight-1 am and they’d want a small snack. Room service was an option but then we’d someone knocking on the door at 1 am , and waking the baby was the big cardinal no of our trip.

Room service for Mickey bars , no there not on the menu , just ask for them they have them

I think it has less to do with our society and more to do with DCL being a family-oriented line. Safety is a hallmark of its brand. Leaving the adult pools & hot tubs open at night without a lifeguard would mean leaving them open to a child or teen who might wander in & drown, as an unattended child could easily ignore the adult area signs if no staff were present.

I don't think it's fear of litigation. DCL can afford to pay off one family's wrongful death lawsuit easily enough, but the damage to their image caused by a child drowning in one of their pools would be a major blow.

That said, I do wish DCL would pay a few lifeguards to keep the hot tubs open all night!

Also be warned - Eye Scream closes for the muster drill. My nephews were soooooo excited about all the free ice cream they were going to get on a Disney Cruise and that was the first thing they wanted to do on our trip. Well, we stayed at a WDW resort and used DCL transportation so we got to the terminal late, and then had some issues checking in, so by the time we boarded and made it up there, it was closed. My oldest nephew threw an embarrassing hissy fit that really set the tone for the entire trip.
