I know a couple of his songs. I did a quick search on the web..they classify him as heavy metal and some said hair metal..never heard that one before. There was one reference to hard rock..I cant quite say i would call him hard rock..may settle and agree with hair metal

Now this is hair metal, great sexy voice and sings a good pirate tune

back in the 80's he was considered "metal" , not really heavy metal, along with Motely Crue- Poison- the "hair bands" as they call them now- man, back then- the higher the hair and the more make up you wore- the cooler and sexier you were- and I am talking about the guys!! :rotfl:

I remember teasing the crap out of my hair so it would stand straight up! Me and my frineds could have poked somebody's eye out with our hair! :lmao:

Then Metallica and Ozzy came along with the HEAVY metal and the hair and make up thing slowly disappeared-

I started way back when in 7th grade- my first concert was KISS- in make up I might add!- I think that might be why I love Mr Depp as THE CAPT--- never minded a guy in make up- the more..... the sexier!

Oh my....all that beautiful hair gone...... :sad1:

It was just something I read on one of the Mr Depp sites-- they are not sure yet how he will portray the part! Hopefully it is with some hair-and I doubt its gonna be a sexy roll-- :guilty:

I agree with you madhattir
I was not a metal person, never a heavy metal person...you don't even want to know what music I did like..heck still do

BUT I loved the long hair..my one son has always had long hair could never bear to cut it, he is now 9 and sports..drum roll .. a mullet, and I dig it! Luckily, peer pressure hasn't scared him into cutting it into something more "in"

A demented baber? Hmm... maybe maybe not..but then his character of Mort Rainey in Secret Window was crazy but he was also very SEXY.. ;)

I still go to concerts and worry the kids there will think I am an old lady! :rotfl:

But the last concert I went to was just a few months ago- Godsmack and Rob Zombie- there were more people there MY age (OK I am 42- but dont tell anyone) than youngins. I was actully making fun of them and the way the dressed- hello! You are in your 40s and it is the year 2006- you are NOT 20 anymore- and its not 1985! :lmao:

I think the reason is- and actually Sully from Godsmack mentioned this that night- kids now dont know what good music is- they listen to that Rap junk or the little girls and boys so called "singing", and man, that top 40 stuff is crazy, and that American Idol music! thats not real music! We need to get back to some Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Hendrix the classic real stuff--

OK OMG! I am ranting- enough- I will make up for it with a lovely pic!

I havent posted this one in a long while~~

No I was never a heavy metal, or real metal fan....I am a child of the 70s and listened to rock and roll of course mostly, then along came disco.

Your DS is just doing his own thing, which I admire him for, I like people who are comfortable enough to do their own thing and not conform to peer pressure and at 9 years old that is very cool..... :thumbsup2

I can see Mr Depp portraying the part as the last pic for some reason-- but no matter what girls-- it doesnt seem like its gonna be a pretty site! :sad2:

We just have to wait for those pics to be released!

I like a lot of 70's stuff..more a ballad type person, like disco and even a lot of r/b and hip hop..use to be a dancing fool 4 nights a week!

Ds didn't know what his own thing was until mom wouldn't cut his hair, but now he seems to like it. the worst pressure he gets is from my mom..who often asks him if he would like her to take him for a haircut. She likes to point out when folks make a mistake and call him "she or her" . I have him trained for his answer.."I have a __________ , I am a boy". We live out in middle USA..not very many boys sport anything but crew cuts, so he does stand out. Then he sees movies or songs with folks like the Capt and realizes it is ok. Hopefully this will hold him into his teenage years, as the girls will think he is hot then. He looks a lot like Alan Jackson i think.
