We just returned from the 9/1 Wonder cruise and have only one complaint. The noise in the room was a LOT worse than we anticipated.

We were in 8048 (a Cat 3) midships, and expected that there would be a lot of noise the night of the deck party. However, we were not prepared for the noise the CMs made between 4:00 and 6:00am. It was pretty obvious that they were rearranging/straightening the deck furniture above us on deck 9 and dragging the tables and chairs across the deck. We could also hear them rolling carts across the deck
(restocking the snack bars?). One night, it sounded like someone ran into a chair with one of the carts and dragged it 15 - 20 feet.

We complained to both Guest Services and the Concierge staff, but it was still pretty bad until we complained again after the second night. Still wasn't totally quiet, but better.

I do have to commend the Concierge staff for following up on this every day for the rest of the cruise. They went so far as to offer us the use of another room during the day if we wanted to sleep.
There were no unoccupied Cat 3 rooms, or they would have moved us (they checked without us asking).

We boarded the ship with every intention of booking a 7day cruise while on board, but after that experience, decided against it.

Has anyone else experienced this, or were we just "lucky"?

I sincerely hope that they take the noise levels into consideration if they build another ship. No matter what category room you have, you shouldn't have to endure noise in the middle of the night!!

The main suggestion I always have for DCL is on future ships to move the suites DOWN a deck so they are not underneath the pool deck. I totally agree with you, outahere, we have stayed in both 8034 and 8600 and had noise problems in both rooms. In 8034 the problem wasn't as bad except for the band playing overhead on deck party night. In 8600 we heard the scraping of chairs and tables VERY early in the morning when they began setting up tables.

I'm a very light sleeper and even with earplugs the noise from Deck 9 is annoying to me. I'm glad the concierge staff was attentive to your needs and that it at least got a little better.

I know you'll hear from others who say they had no noise issues in a Cat. 3 but believe me, you're not alone. I do hope you'll reconsider another booking though, you'll find the rooms MUCH quieter on the decks that only have other staterooms above them.

We had room 8048 too and did experience some noise at night. You could clearly tell that it was chairs and tables being moved around. It really didn't bother us much. We are heavy sleepers so I can't really say anything about noise that early in the mornings.

I hope you decide to book another cruise with DCL. I know we will be. :)

we were in 8534, the large cat 3 under the bandstage....
we also had occasional scraping noises in the middle of the night but strangely i was the only one in the family who heard them...
my light-as-a-feather sleeping duaghter slept the best i've ever seen her on the ship...
(i think the gentle rocking motion kept her asleep)...

on the last night i was glad the noise woke me because i was able to watch the whole docking process at port canaveral....it was about 4 in the morning so i was happy to have had my nightly wake up call.....

as i said, i was the only one in the family who was woken by the noise...
and despite the noise, i loved that room and wouldn't hesitate to book it again....

We were in 8032 and the most noise we heard was in the late afternoon and late evening. We were right under Common Grounds, and would hear footsteps, which seemed to be the worst at around 3:00pm and then again at 10:00pm. By midnight it was over. We were never bothered by any other noises.
