Extreme Makeover: TAGLIARCHY Edition

Today is going to be a very busy day.
This morning I am helping out at Stephanie's school. The PTO puts on this huge Thanksgiving feast every year for the kids. I was unable to help last year, but I can this year. Stephanie is so excited about me being there.
Then I have to finish my Thanksgiving grocery shopping after that.
Then I have to have Stephanie do all her homework because she has CCD.
Then after I bring Stephanie home from CCD I have my last training class.
Busy, busy, busy - but that's okay - I don't mind

Thankful for mom's and all they do.
Thankful it's not me - I don't think I'd have the stamina

Self-serve Dole Whips

This is NC Beast's dream---he will want to save up enough for a stay so we can take full advantage plus try the frozen adult beverages or make our own enhanced Dole Whip---- .

The Nor-easter is making things a bit bit nippy this week.

Slo, you had a thread on sweet potaotes...here's my post from someone else's thread on sweet potatoe casserole:

I have 2 recipes given to me by NC Beast's mom:

#1 version:

Beat together and place into greased baking dish:
* 3 Cups of mashed sweet potatoes
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/3 stick margarine
* 1 generous teaspoon vanilla
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup milk

Topping:

1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/3 melted margarine
1 cup nuts

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes uncovered.


Version 2:
Mash warm sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar. Top with minature marshmallows. Bake at 350 degrees just until marshmallows are lightly browned.

I prefer my sweet potato nuked and simply buttered or with gravy.

This is going to be a very busy day getting everything ready for tomorrow. I have so much to do, and I feel no time to do it in. I try not to stress out to much, but it's hard not to - I want everything to be just right.

I am working from home today. In the past this has been a 1/2 day, but who knows this year... At least while I am home I can start the white pot in the oven and make some stuff inbetween working .. especially in the afternoon when things will be very slow..

Geoff decided that he wants a ZUNE.. so far i haven't seen any discounts on it.
NC Belle - thanks for the recipe .. I gave up making sweet potatos.. My Mom and I were the only ones that eat them. i just bake them in a very low oven and they turn very sweet and creamy.

I'm up so early this morning.
Last night, at about 9pm, I looked at my frozen pumpkin pie and it said that I needed to bake it for 70-80 minutes I bought a frozen pie this year so I wouldn't have to bake it. So, that will be going in the oven by 6:30am, so it can be out by the time the bird needs to go in.

Today is traditional "MOVIE DAY" for TiggersPal, her DH and I. Regardless of what/where/when we eat.....it's hit the movie theater day (and sometimes every day of the weekend!!!!!.....at least for me).

Speaking of what/where/when we eat.....we have NO PLANS and NOTHING COOKING! I think after the cruise preperation and experience, we are just too burnt out to plan anything, so today may just be popcorn for dinner.

You all have a relaxing day, whatever it is you are doing!

Zune: Its like an Ipod/mp3 players with video viewing---about 40 hours worth

Unfortunately, Santa is bringing us 4 tires instead.

I want a WII by the end of next year. I miss playing Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda games.

Slo--- I was baking my frozen pumpkin pie yesterday around 9pm. I prefer making it from a can and frozen pie crust/ pre-made crust which is about the same amount of time....but, we got the pie that was 1/2 off.

Well......we have another successful holiday behind us


Everything yesterday went great and my sweet potatoes turned out wonderful They weren't my Grandma's, but like Kevin said, I'll never be able to reproduce my Grandma's sweet potatoes perfectly.


We had some time to spare last night, so we up put our new tree (just the tree) up yesterday - it is beautiful!!!!! I was so unsure about getting white or colored lights, because we always had white lights. I decided on the colored lights, and I am very pleased with my decision. Now today I get to decorate it!!!!!


ibouncetoo - I hope you had a good movie day today. What did you see??

NC Belle - My frozen pie ended up tasting really good I think I may get another one next year

Morning Taglikins!

We didn't hit the movies yesterday, as TiggersPal is still suffering from her cold. Perhaps today. I want to see "Happy Feet" and "The Fountain". I think if we choose Happy Feet, Peg's DH will go see "Casino Royal" at the same time. He keeps saying 'no animated movies' and we keep reminding him how he laughed himself silly during "Madagascar".

I have to decide what to do with my few remaining time share points for this year. I could do a long weekend at Disneyland, or just stay at one of our lovely resorts here in Phoenix for some pampering. Of course, what I'd do if $$$ weren't an issue is a long weekend at WDW If I could only get there by

Happy thanksgivng! Sorry I haven't been around in a while...last week/weekend was really busy I was away at a conference for a class I am taking and I had SUCH a good time.

Hi.. Thanksgiving was very nice at our house. and then we did the Black Friday thing this am. So now I am going to start baking for the cookie/ornament/white elaphant party that i am going to on Saturday. I need to bake 8 dozen of something to bring.

Today we have some boy scouts over to work on the first aid meet, and Geoff has a paper to write, and Eric has a presentation to write and get ready for school. Tomorrow am is part 1 of geoff's eagle project. The Suday i will bake and cook all for my family only I get to bring it to my sister's.

Good Friday afternoon everyone. We are trying to get the house a little cleaner before putting up the Christmas tree. The girls are so excited.

Yesterday, as we were cooking Thanksgiving dinner, I killed our microwave. I am still unsure how. I think I accidently hit cook when I meant to hit timer. Oops. It was only for 10 minutes. I am unclear on how that could cause microwave death. The darn thing was less than a year old.

I rushed out to K-Mart and got a Kenmore (They were having 20 percent off all Kenmore stuff). It is a nice microwave, but is was an expense that we were not planning.

This morning is the girls annual Christmas picture morning. Our appointment is at 10am, but we need to leave her by 9am to make sure we not only get there in time, but so I also have to time to do some last minute primping on the girls before the pictures are taken. I have everything layed out for easy getting ready this morning - dresses, tights, shoes, fake hair, crystal tiarras (sp?). This is always a stressful morning for me because I want to make sure everything is just right.

Yesterday was successful. We are officially decorated for Christmas Our house looks wonderful!!!! I still need to get some last minute items, but for the most part, it is 95% done

ibouncetoo - I'm sorry you didn't make it to the show in Thanksgiving. Did you get to the show yesterday? What did you see?

TiggersPal - I"m sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well Sending lots of PD your way for your cold to feel better soon

So it looks like you all had a fun Thanksgiving. I'm glad you all had a good time.

I have been really busy this week, I haven't been on the Dis since Wednesday which is unheard of!! This weekend my parents came to visit. On Friday we went to the castle next to my house which was all done up as a Victorian Christmas which was really nice (bits of the castle are 1000 years old!!) Then yesterday we went to France for the day to stock up on a few bits and pieces. We drove down to Ashford and went ob the Chanel Tunnel which is so convenient to do. I stocked up on my favourite champagne for Christmas (it was $20 a bottle cheaper than over here!!) I also bought a few decorations from the Disney store and got a new watch.

So what do people have planned for today? My parents have just gone home and I have to go to the theatre later for a while. Then this evening my best friends are coming over for dinner. They have just got back from WDW (I can't believe they went without me ) Aparently they have got me some gifts though which they are bringing over later . Also I think I might be able to guess where this years Christmas present from them might possibly be from!!

Oh well, before all that I guess I should get on with the .

I was able to sleep in until 8:30am this morning - I can't even tell you the last time I did that. The girls are at my MIL's because we went to a party last night - and it is so quiet in this house . I'm not sure when they will be home, but I'm sure it will be later this morning.

I am feeling better today but it's been one heck of a long weekend. I finally felt good enough to get some of my "projects" that I like to do done. Well, just one in fact, but I did get out some of my new "tools" and made my DH a fritatta for breakfast. Thanks to Rachel Ray and catching up on my shows! We saw "Stranger than Fiction" yesterday, good flick! I better call my sister and see what she wants to see today! So many movies, so little time!!!
