Extra Years If You Buy At SSR

I know those folks who buy at SSR will get an extra 10 years added on to their contract, but will they be able to stay in any DVC resort in those last 10 years of their contracts, or just at SSR?

There are a bunch of us, who have purchased contracts with the 2042 or 2045 or whatever the end date is. That means, that year, there will be an awful lot of empty resorts, unless they start doing resales with the new end date. Or do you think they'll come up with a new program for the "old" DVC resorts(OKW,BWV,BCV,VWL) so that the SSR(and whatever resorts follow it) will not be able to stay at the first ones?

Not that it matters to me too much, because I'll be 83 years old when my contract ends, but the speculation is fun!

I believe that the way it is set up today, SSR owners will only have the extra years at their home resort and any other additional DVC resorts that are built in the foreseeable future. I'm not sure Disney has decided what will happen to the original resorts when we hit 2042. I'm not planning on being too concerned until another 15-20 years have passed.

Right. Like I said, I'm going to be 83 when my contract expires, so if I am still looking to go to WDW, I'll start paying cash!

SSR members can not use any of the existing DVC resorts after 1/31/42. Now that could change in the future, but the position now is that your rights to use those resorts ends when the land lease ends.

The only things we know for sure is that there will be only 1 resort left...ie. NO TRADING. Everything below is pure speculation, starting with the most likely:

- You have great trading power into a non-DVC system, currently II
- There is still Eagle Pines.
- They'll build a bunch more resort on-site.
- They'll renovate some of the existing resorts and re-sell then...as new 50year contracts.
- They'll offer an extension to the existing 2041 contracts.
- They'll build off-site properties.
- DVC becomes a time-share system empire.
- Disney sells its resort interests DVC is merged into another system.
- DVC builds first moon-based timeshare. Doc cuts the ribbon.

If the last one comes true, I'm in!

I thought of another possibility... You can think about were this fits on the scale.

- They will build DVC resorts at other WDW parks around the world... as they build more WDW parks around the world!
