extra unused PHP passes

I bought many Adult, 4-Day PHP passes from Connections for a family reunion that never happened. Now I have about 20 of them that I don't know what to do with:eek: . I've been able to sell about 10 on ebay, but it's taking forever! Any thoughts? I did list one in DISAuctions to see if there are any takers.

Nothing personal... but I think most people have a really hard time purchasing tickets from an individual. I know I wouldn't.

Will Connections not buy them back from you? I know they will buy back unused meal vouchers... I would think the same rule would apply. (Park hoppers/Meal Vouchers are not to be resold.)

I guess you could keep putting them on Ebay - I know there are always some up for sale... but isn't it against their rules? (or maybe Disney's)?

I know how you feel about purchasing from an individual. I have several positive feedbacks on ebay with these passes.

I called Connections to return them -- they said that I only had 7 days to return them. Needless to say, it has been more than 7 days.

Against whose rules? Ebay or Connections? I didn't know anything about this.

Some questions: - Why don't you save them for other trips? They never expire. - Do you have friends who are going and can purchase them from you? How much are you selling the passes for?

My immediate family has APs. I have a few friends at work who want to buy some, but not enough to get rid of them.

At this point, I'm so desperate to get ride of them that I'm selling them for what I paid for them -- $200.

It is against Ebay rules, so I am told and also, it is against Disney's rules. BTW, good luck in selling them, what a pain that must be. :(

I actually contacted Disney about this. They said that the tickets are non-transferrable once they have been used. For example, if I had used 1 day of the ticket and were now trying to sell the other days, that would be against the rules. But, they said that since I've never used the tickets that I can transfer them.

Why is it against ebay rules? I know that there are regulations against selling a ticket from a certain location that deal with limits above the advertised gate price, but since these tickets aren't available through Disney at the gate those regulations don't apply. Unless, or course, I'm missing something.

Actually, the worse that will happen I believe , is you will get a note from Connections saying you will not be able to be a member any longer, or in the future, since you agrred to their terms when you signed up..and one of them was, the tickets can't be sold. I don't think your auctions will actually be shut down, unless Connections joins the eBay Vero..and as of a few days ago, they had not. I believe Disney has no problem with unused tickets being sold, as long as you go with the state you sell them in's guidelines. After all, several places such as Connections, AAA, etc, resell Disney tickets (unused).

Transfer yes, but, resell, I don't know. I am sure if you bought them for a friend and was reimbursed that would be one thing, but to purchase and then resell, well that is a totally different thing, and I do understand the bind you are in.
As to EBAY, hey, I don't know why it is against their rules, I don't know why, it just is. Why aren't these tickets available at the gate? What is special about them? And, btw, all ticket media from Disney falls under the same rules.
Personally, I understand the bind you are in and I really don't care if you sell them on a street corner. :) That is your business, not mine. The others and I were just warning you of the pitfalls and I, for one, don't need to debate it.
Take care and good luck. :)

I wish people would check their facts before making statements.
It isnt against Ebays rules to sell the tickets, however there are stipulations on certain states etc. If you go to the help section on ebay you can read all about the rules for selling your tickets. I'm not savvy enough to provide you a link but I did go there and read through it and the blanket statement that its against the rules is incorrect. Good Luck with getting rid of your tickets.

Thanks for providing the link, Geoff. Now the OP can check the actual facts.

Thanks for everyone playing PI for me!

I went to the ebay link (thanks, Geoff_M) and according to ebay, I can't sell the tickets for more than $1 above face value. Now, this might just be semantics, but if there is no value listed on the ticket and you can't purchase them at the gate (Disney does not sell 4-Day PHP online, nor at the gate), then what determines face vaule? Is it the amount I paid or any price listed by any online ticket broker? This is way too much thinking for the morning.:scratchin

I think that link pretty much says what the OP was told..that she can sell them if the tickets are unused (although it appears that if neither live in Florida, the restrictions don't matter, if I'm reading that right..and that there are no restrictions, even if used, if neither buyer nor seller live in Florida..however, since I'm not a lawyer, I may be reading it wrong.).

She does have to put in restrictions, if she or the buyer lives in Florida.

I wonder where the words non transferable that are on my tickets come into play..maybe that's just a Disney "rule"? And possibly unenforceable?

Connections does not put the price on the back? If not, go to one of the brokers (or check them all out) and go from there.

I guess I read eBay's language on that page differently than most:

eBay permits resale of tickets to entertainment events (including sporting events, concerts, and plays) to the fullest extent permitted by law.

That says event tickets, not theme park tickets. There is a very big distinction. Event tickets are for a specified event at a specified venue over a limited period of time. The circus at Madison Square Garden would be an event. An Atlanta Braves baseball game would be an event. Admission to the Smithsonian in Washington would not be as you can go anytime. And Disney World is not an event since it too is available 365 days a year.

Everything on that page is geared toward singular or limited run events. Words like artist, team, promoter or organizer are used frequently. None of this applies to WDW.

JMHO. YMMV. Please continue as you were before.

I also read it in a way similar to you. I wrote ebay for the answer. Will post it when I get it.

You may be right. I think it may also depend on what the state of Florida considers an event.
In any case, your tickets are new, so I don't think you'll have any problems..unless the Florida restrictions (if you sell from or are in FL as a buyer) slow you down.

I think it is this part of the rules from E-bay

Florida
No more than face value plus $1

No sale of multi-day or multi-event tickets that have been used at least once for admission

I'm fairly new to these boards and all things Disney. I'm planning a trip to WDW in Jan04. Would any of you "dis professionals" think it would be okay for me to purchase 2 of these tickets to help this poster out.? I don't even know if that is a good price or not I haven't even started looking into the prices of the Park hoppers yet. (still working on the location;) )I would appreciate feedback before I make a decision. I'm not sure how ebay works just yet either. Very green with the whole internet still.:D
