Extra points for buying VGF?

We were able to log in to see our contract online today. Our closing package arrived today as well. We are buying 100 points at VGF. But I notice that they gave us an extra 50 points this year. Is that right or are they going to take them back? I had heard that there wasn't really a promotion of any kind;you only got the points that would be due for 2014. But that doesn't seem like the case.

You don't get extra points. At some point in time they will probably find their mistake and adjust your account.

when i purchased 160 points from them (before i found out about DVC resales and save more than $10k!) they told me i had an extra (one time use) 50 points. you are not mistaken. i recal it was something to do with the "back dating" of the ownership. like i bought in may but they gave me an october use year or something.

I don't think that your situation is applicable here. I haven't read anything about one time use points being included with a VGF purchase.

Our guide did mention "backdated" points. I thought that meant I got 2014 points. This looks like they are in addition to the 2014 points

"Backdated" points are a salespersons make you feel good item.

Odds are you received your current UY's points that makes it seem like you got something extra. I hope you chose a UY based on your preferred vacation dates and didn't just accept what the Guide gave you.

Bill,
That is what I thought. But we bought 100 points and there are 150 points in 2014 and 100 in 2015. The 50 points showed that they were manually added.

If you were to receive a bonus, your Guide would have played it up and your contract would spell it out. Rather than hope that they are yours to use, I would call your Guide to verify. If they are for you to use, then great, if not and you use them, you will have to make restitution.

What use yr you bought? I bought VGF couple months back, direct, no one time use pts.

If it were the "backdated" points that salespeople like to pass off as a perk, there would be 100 extra points, not 50.
