We have a two bedroom villa the first week of July. There are 7 of us and my in-laws are driving through and want to stay two nights with us. The resort is saying we can't have more than 8 in the room. Although I don't want to cause any trouble or ruin my vacation, I would like to know if anyone else has done this and how they managed it. I like to stick to the rules, but this only for two days and Disney benefits from it. Someone please help me find a way to make this work. They are near 70 and this will be there only chance to do this with their grandchildren.

Sorry I can't help you, I've never exceeded the occupancy limits.

Is it possible for you to rent a studio as well for 2 nights? If not on points perhaps you could pay cash or rent a few points from someone.

Hey Ginger. First of all I see your new here, so welcome. Just a head's up. This topic is not met with warmly on the DIS. I didn't see a way to contact you via P-mail or E-mail. If you like, send me a P-mail.

Becky

You could ask about renting points for a studio for them for the two nights over on the DVC board. Perhaps Disney could arrange for the rooms to be fairly close together.

This is one of the all time hot button topics so be prepared to be called a cheat, a thief, and an all around bad person. :) Actually, one of the moderators will step in and let you know that filling a resort room over maxium capacity is "breaking the rules" at Disney and will shut down the thread because you aren't allow to discuss those things on the DIS. I'd PM Becky and talk about it off the record if I were you, you'll get some honest advise. All that being said, have a great trip!!! ::MickeyMo

Ginger -

I sent you a PM - but wanted to tell you if there is someone under the age of 3 in your party they do not count in the total number of people - maybe this will keep you under the total of 8

Just put them in your room no one is going to come around and look to see if they are staying.

9 in a 2BR is awful tight, unless one is an toddler or smaller.. JMHO

Noooooooooooo! I think would apply in this situation. :rolleyes1

Member services will tell you no extra room key or towels, ect. Otherwise, ok.

I personally see nothing wrong with one extra. Just give the unit an extra loving care for allowing your extra guest. :wizard:

I did the same for 2 nights at OKW once. Even though we were in the parks most of the time it was crowded. My children were much younger and they slept in the living room floor. Actually it was not rreally that crowded, we are just used to having the space. Now that the children are older and there is usually only 6 of us, a Beach House at Vero sure sounds nice. :earboy2:

Have a great trip

It's very simple. Unless one of you is under 3, it's maximum of eight in a 2BR. Trying to rationalize it or get people on this board to give you permission doesn't help. If you are not an owner, please have respect for our property and don't abuse the occupancy limits. If you are an owner, you know the rules and you signed that you would abide with them when you bought into DVC.

Oh my Ginger, did you bring up a hot topic :rotfl: I have but a few things to say.... First, are there any members of your group under three? With all those people, someone must be under three I hope??? That would solve your problem nicely....

I personally have never gone over occupancy, but if you all get along nicely & the children don't mind sleeping on the floor, you should be okay... AND, in the interest of fairness, don't damage the unit... take very good care that your extra guests don't add wear & tear (they are older, I assume they won't)....

Next suggestion... use points for a studio.... once we did that for friends that came to visit us, it was very nice to see them & it was good to have the privacy the night they stayed....

Have a GREAT trip!

Talk to member services, they are the ones who can say yes or no, not the people on this board. I agree that it will be awfully crowded, you will only have 3 regular beds and one sofabed.

The real solution is to either change your reservation to a GV for those last two nights or rent them a studio. You will be within the limits, everyone will be comfortable, and you wont have any issues with EMH etc.

Although we have never exceeded the maximum occupancy, I don't have a problem with having your in-laws stay for two nights. The 2-bedrooms at OKW are much bigger than the other DVCs. If they are driving through, have them throw a sleeping bag(s) in their car for two of the kids, and they can have the pull out bed in the living room and the kids can sleep on the floor. It's for two nights for one extra person, and if you have a child 3 or under, it's a moot point.

I am in a similar situation.

Would a 1 bedroom and a studio connected work? I'm hoping that if I make the request stating that we have small children they will be able to give us a lock-off. It should only be about 30 more points.

I am one of those people who actually believed my guide and the legal department when they told me I could have 9 in a 2 bedroom. Of course, looking back I realize that *some* sales people will say anything to make a sale, but I actually thought that it would be safe because it's DISNEY. (can you tell I'm bitter?)

Anyway, off my soap box.... This will be our last trip when our littlest one is under 3. Next time, we will be in the same situation as you are.

Hope it works out for you

you can have 9, just one has to be under 3 and in the pak and play.

A 1 bedroom with a studio connected IS a 2 bedroom, and will cost less points than a 1 bedroom plus a studio.
