Extra Magic Hours - Worth Going?

Our first trip is in August 2008. I did plan my ADR around EMH. My question is about fast passes. Can you still get them and then use them during the EMH? How does the machine know that your are a resort guest?

I am not sure if you can use them during EMH- I don't think you can, but don't quote me on that. I just know we never did.

As for the machine- as a resort guest, your pass will be your room key, which is super convenient!

Well since having experienced 2 parks for extra magic hours I will say it is worth it. We did Epcot evening which was great as it was incredibly packed in the morning when we arrived. We went back had a nap and stayed late for the Epcot late hours till mid night and we walked on most rides from 10:30 - 11. In addition the bus crowd had lightened a bit. The mornings are not bad either but it doesn't last long as it is only an hour. But Epcots late night one was definetly worth it. Plus it is much cooler!

We LOVED EMH at MK on our August trip last year, it was one of the most magical parts of the vacation. The kids were delighted to be able to stay up late, it was much cooler than in the mid-day sun, and we didn't find it to be overly busy compared to any other day....we had headed back to our resort just at lunch and the kids swam and slept for a few hours, it worked out great, and I have planned all our days around the EMH this year, especially since we have no hoppers.

We took advantage of the extra hours last year and it worked out well- we are all adults so the staying up late doesn't affect us , if you have small children would be harder. But we walked on the rides, especially at MK and Epcot.

If there is a morning EMH at the MK, DO IT! It's SO WORTH IT! I do it every time they have one, it's a lifesaver. It's way less crowded, lines are shorter, it's great.

As for other parks, I'm not sure but it's worth a shot. The popular rides at epcot get long lines fast, like soarin and test track, but a lot of things are still closed if I remember right. I've never used morning EMH for MGM or AK though.

If you stay up late and want to go back to the parks after a rest, the EMH in the evening is helpful, but it can be hard to leave when everyone else is leaving the park.

they are TOTALLY worth it! when we went this past year, we went to Magic Kingdom on the night it stayed open til 2 am and we got to ride EVERYTHING in the park! it was great! they kick out everyone without extra magic hour writsbands, so it got empty pretty fast! but that was the only way we got to experience everything. i would definatly recommend using them! have fun!

Just got back from WDW and used evening extra hours twice, once open until midnite and the other 3 a.m. The park was still pretty crowded when it was open til 12 but the later day the park did thin out after about 2 a.m. Guess it depends on the crowd size. I found early hours seem to be better if you can get yourself up and out!!:rotfl:
