Extra Magic Hours for Off Property Guest

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but I couldn't find it on the search.
The first night we at Disney next month, we will be arriving late and plan to go to Epcot around 8 pm. There will be extra magic hours that night. We will not be going on rides, just walking around the Lands. We are not staying on property and I was wondering if Disney staff check if you are not going on rides?

You can stay in the park. They will only check at rides.

You are free to stay and enjoy the park during EMH. You just can't enter any attractions, that's where they scan bands.
