I am getting very confused :confused3 about the Extra Magic Hour.

EPCOT and other parks per the DIS web-site say:
"a Walt Disney World theme park will be open an hour early and three hours later for Disney Resort guests only and includes guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan/Dolphin Hotels and the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort. "

and ...
" Wristbands distributed no earlier than two hours before the park closes to the general public"

So if you are a WDW resort guest or a guest at the Swan/Dolphin or Hilton,
you DO NOT NEED a WRISTBAND ?????? :confused3

ie "~Valid Resort I.D. and theme park ticket required~", per this web-site.

Please help the confused person I am :badpc:

Yes you need a wristband to stay for the extra hours. You show your resort ID to CM's in various locations in the park and they put the wristband on you. It doesn't matter if you are an AP holder - you still need a wristband. Hope that helps.

You need the park pass to enter the park. You need the wristband to take advantage of EMH. The ID may be needed when you enter the park and/or when you pick up your band.

I think you're getting confused by the "to the general public" part. That goes with the "park closes" part, as in "park closes to the general public" but resorts guests get a wristband and stay. Grammatically, it's a little confusing.

So I will be an AP holder staying at a resort and the rest of my family will have regular tickets (getting the AP for the room discount) will I get some sort of resort ID so I can get a wristband too?

For the early morning hours, you need to show your room key and you will not get a wristband. Having an AP has nothing to do with it. Everyone staying on Dis property can take advantage. Yesterday, they were letting in everyone at the gates, that were in the early hour line...no need to show our resort card, which I found irritating, as it made the park more crowded...although for the first few hours at MGM, we walked on most rides. People in the regular line didn't get as early as us, but still got in about a half hour before the park opened.

Last night at AK, we just had to show our resort key to get our wrist bands..although all that was open was Bugs Life and the Dinoland. So everyone staying was in Dinoland. I asked if they needed to see ID and they said no. Another gal asked if she could use someone elses room key since she didn't have hers, and they said sure. That was another disapointment, but so Disneylike...please everyone.

You are right about AK, DMRick, not much available EMH evenings. Besides Dinoland, when we were there Feb 6-12, the only other thing open was a 5:30 showing of the Lion King, and ITTBAB.

Maybe they'll add more after daylight savings time kicks in?
