Extra Magic Hour Question

In order to take advantage of the evening extra magic hours, do you have to be in the designated park before the regular closing time? Our situation, we are scheduled to view Fantasmic at 8pm on October 5. After Fantasmic is over I would like to hop to MK for the evening extra magic hours. Regular closing time for MK is 9pm. If we arrive after 9pm at MK gates, will they still allow us in for extra magic hours?
