Extra day in the resort?

Hey guys,

I thought i read somewhere a while ago that Disney automatically holds your room 24 hours after your scheduled leave, just in case you decide to stay. Is this true? My family is unsure, but we're about 60% sure we're gonna stay one more day, and we won't know for a week or two and i'm worried there might be a problem when it comes time to extend it.

If it makes a different, i'll be at the POR

Sorry, that's not true. As soon as you check out, Housekeeping will be in there getting the room ready for the next guest. Very few people decide on the spur of the moment to extend their trips, and a policy like that would result in a huge occupancy issue for WDW - in a resort like the All-Stars that has thousands of rooms, you could have hundreds of rooms left unbooked just in case the guest decides to stay.

If you want to extend your vacation, you should book the extra day as soon as you know you'll want it.

Rest assured that that is not true. Disney's resorts enjoy some of the highest load-levels in the industry. Most every room is already spoken-for for the evening of the day you check-out.

We had to stay an extra day at the Wilderness Lodge in December because of my niece getting sick. We were able to book our same room for the extra night with just a days notice to the resort.

we tried to stay at pop for an extra day or two and couldn't. They only had AKL available, darn! We had to take that!

This is not true. Your room is awaiting the next family as soon as you check out and they clean it up.
