My family and I will be visiting Disneyworld at the end of this month with my sister and her family. We will be staying outside the World, at a non-Disney hotel. Yesterday, my sister went to AAA to inquire about pre-purchasing 5 day Magic My Way tickets, with a hopper option, but without a non-expiring option. The travel agent told her that the (non-discounted) cost of the tickets were roughly what this site and other sites state for the cost (about $240.00 for adults and $200.00 for kids); however, she also told my sister that there was an additional charge of $190.00 per ticket because she was not staying at a Disney hotel or Disney-affiliated hotel!
I have been following these forums for a while, and I have taken some very good advice from them. Has anyone heard of this "extra charge"? Or did the travel agent misunderstand her inquiry? I told her that I had not seen any reference to the additional charge on any website describing this new ticketing system, and told my sister to check again with another AAA travel agent (and maybe complain to a supervisor or the BBB about the travel agent, if the advice was deliberate).

Where did that TA get that information? I think your sister needs to seek out somewhere else to purchase her tics--- maybe her TA is trying to scam some money on her own? Disney in NOT going to tack on extra prices according to where you are staying--- you can reference their website and see that. I am sorry someone representing the tourist industry, of which WDW is a big part, would give out false information! Buyer Beware.!
