I am faxing my room request to POR and i was wondering if they charge extra for a fridge or if we just have to request it? ANy info will be greatly appreciated!!
thanks
There's definitely an extra charge, but I don't know what it is (???used to be $6/day, but is now $10/day). Better call them or CRO and ask.
I've read that if there's a medical reason (ie, to store insulin and snacks for a diabetic) there's no charge, but you might have to have a MD letter.
Sorry I don't have specific answers, but wanted you to know ASAP that there's a charge.
Yep there is a charge and I do believe it is $10 a day.
I don't know your situation but if you can swing it buy a small fridge and take it with you. We do this when we stay at moderates and/or All Stars. I haven't gotten up the nerve to go strolling through the lobby of the AKL or other deluxe resorts with my fridge yet. So we usually just rough it then.
Yes, it definitely costs to have a fridge in the room. One time, we were at CBR and, as usual, I had a fridge added to the room for my Hubby's meds. Upon checkout though, I saw that they charged us for the fridge, even tho it was a medical necessity.
I was told the maid checked the fridge and did not see any "meds" (they were wrapped in a brown bag, so she wouldn't have seen them) and we were therefore being charged for the fridge. Fortunately, guest services credited our bill.
Waiving the fee for medications seems to be an inconsistent thing. Lately, DIS posters have reported they were not charged if they had medications, but some DIS posters have reported they were charged for a medication refrigerator. The reason they were given was that many people were saying they had medications just to avoid the refrigerator charge, so everyone was being charged, even medical needs. Some posters were told that the only way to avoid the charge was to keep their medications behind the front desk (even if it meant severl trips per day to the front desk to get doses of medication).
So, if you have medications, do ask about having the charge waived. You can work thru WDW Resort Special Reservations:
(407) 939-7807
(407) 939-7670 [TTY],
but for a while, even people who requested a frig for medications thru Special Reservations were posting about being charged.
This is interesting. The last 2 times we have stayed at the Poly(1 night each time) we had a fridge in our room for no charge and we never requested it. In fact, now that I think about it, my mothers room also had one in it too.
