Extra Bun

When I went to Disney in 2008 you could order a double cheeseburger and an extra bun for 60 cents. It seems I read on these boards in the last 6 months that now Disney charges a couple of dollars for the bun. :scared1:

Has anyone ordered the extra bun lately. We're taking 3 kids in January and the extra bun trick would certainly help our lunch cost.

Thanks

we did it at cosmic rays in magic kingdom in aug 09. but the cost was way more then 80 cents. i wanna say it was over a dollar. honestly i forgot. but it is still a good deal :)

I was ther in September and got the extra bun no charge. Even a dollar or two is still cheaper than buying another burger.

Okay, at that point I'd just carry in my own seeded bun by Pepperidge Farms in my Tupperware sandwich holder. :rotfl2:

we've never been charged for the extra bun. Last time I ordered it was in May.

I usually share a double cheeseburger with DS3 and don't even bother with a bun for him. He never eats them anyways....I just cut up the burger for him.

I never uynderstood why don't you just cut it in half? seems a lot simpler. that's what we do.

A slice of bread at the resort hotel is like 39 cents. You could always take a piece or two of bread.

I only know the price of bread, because my every day breakfast is one piece of toast and one piece of fruit. I need it to take my morning medication.

I asked for one last December at Restaurantasaurus, as we were on the dining plan. I was going to use it for the double burger for my kids to split. The cost was I want to say over $3.00, so we skipped it and they just split the double.

The new buns were awful! I know they are more whole wheat, but they crumble and fall apart.

That is what I have always wondered too. Any time we share a double burger (or any burger/sandwich) we just cut it in half. If I am so hungry that I need another half of a bun to fill up, I would rather eat a piece of fruit or something.

That is what I have ALWAYS wondered when I read the uproar here about the increase of bun fees.

There would only be a couple of scenarios for me in this situation.

A-I order 2 cheeseburgers because they are hungry

B-I split a cheeseburger in 2 and tell my kids that is lunch since they were not really hungry anyway.

C-I order an extra bun and watch my husband leave the restaurant with the children, head for the car, collect the suitcases and leave Florida with a divorce attorney on the blackberry. It just could never happen.

because then I would have to listen to my kids whine about having to share a burger they aren't actually going to eat. And I'd hear about it for the next 6mths on random other occasions when they decided something wasn't 'fair'. So it's 'easier' to order a free bun and let them think they have their own burger than to deal with the whining. ;)

And I don't waste 2 CS credits. Wasting 1 is less annoying to me.

Your kids whine if they have to share?

I can see the point of ordering another bun if you have children that like different toppings. I don't eat burgers, but children are usually more picky about things looking a certain way.

I have heard the buns are horrible anyway.

My kids share everything. So yes they whine when they have to share food on vacation. Why would anyone care how I choose to deal with it? :confused3

The youngest are just shy of 4, 5 and 6. I cut them slack on things like that and I'm firm on others. Food is not my hill to die on but it is a slight battle that I fight. ;)

Except, generally, you can't order a free bun. You can bring your own in the aforementioned hard-sided plastic food container, or you can order one and expect to pay anywhere from $.79 to, apparently, $3 for it.
