Anyone have any suggestions on a good one? One that is aesthetically pleasing as well. I love pretty things!

I got an Anker Astro Mini for our first FP+ trip. It is available in pink if you are looking for something pretty. I also purchased a 6-inch USB cable to make it easier to charge it in my pocket. On the trip, I used my iPhone only for MDE app (checking reservations and ride wait times), and I needed to charge it with the external battery more than half of the days on the trip. My wife used her phone much more, for photos, videos, and bookface, and never needed the extra charge.

I just carry a spare battery or 2. I pop out the dead battery and pop in the full battery and I am off.

No carrying cables or external chargers. I keep the phone and battery charger back at the house or hotel if I am traveling.

That's great. I've got an iPhone, unfortunately you can't just pop in a new battery. OP didn't say exactly what type of phone she has, but I'm going to guess that the battery is not removable.

OP here. I have an iPhone6 (probably a 6s by the time we leave in 25 days). I also probably should have included more specifics that "pretty" hahahaha :rotfl:

I am looking for something with 5000+ mAh. The Anker one is soooo pretty! But I use my phone for all of our photos and usually to stay entertained in line. We play Heads Up in line a lot and always invite the people around us to play! This is also my first trip using MDE and FP+ so I know that I'll be checking that often as well.

The mini worked well for me, I liked the small size, gave me a full charge with juice to spare, which is all I needed. But if you want more power, Anker also has this one:

I have the Jackery 12,000 MaH and love it. I can charge my phone multiple times with it before it needs a recharge. It is on the heavy size but well worth not having to worry about a dead battery

And it can charge 2 devices at once.

Thoughts...
  • love external chargers, don't need to be looking for an outlet and forgetting to get phone in restaurant outlet. Can charge in a purse or backpack. Don't be a wall hugger.
  • some people like phone case batteries/chargers. However when you get a new phone or apple changes the connector... you need a new case. Phone cases can't charge other devices like a tablet.
  • in addition to size, think about the mah rating for capacity. While larger mah are bigger, it means you can use it a few times a day without needing to recharge. Tablet owners will like the larger mah.
    • 2000 mah will charge a phone from zero to halfway. But the chargers are very portable like a maglight.
    • 6000 mah is an all around charger. Will charge a smart phone from zero to 100% about 2 or 3 times depending on the model. A tablet perhaps halfway.
    • 11,000 mah will charge a tablet from zero to 100% depending on the tablet. A phone about 4 to 6 times to 100% from zero
    • love my 16,800 iPower turbo. Does a tablet from zero to 100% about 1.5 times.
  • there are some chargers that will power a laptop, as well as your phone 'n tablet.
  • have you heard about the new ones that also boosts your car while able to charge your phone and tablet? Very handy for me with my older vehicles. I have no patience waiting for a tow truck or look for someone to boost my car.

I've got a 13,000Mah Charger, keeps the camera and two iPhones 6 Plus Phones topped up all day.

So I am leaning towards Anker one. Does anyone have any experience with the Lepow poki charger? Its super cute and comes in a tiffany blue color but the 10000 mAh is sold out, there is only the 5000 in the color I like. Would that be enough? It would just be for my phone since everyone else in our group has a portable charger. That said, I am pretty much constantly using it in some way or another.
Here's the Lepow one:

I went out and bought one before our trip last week and didn't use it a single time. I have a Galaxy note 4. I used the phone for MDE, twitter, taking pictures etc and never got lower than 30% battery. Just food for thought.

if looks are important, shutterfly has them. you can design your own, make one with your pictures or they have nice colors and decorations.

Remember to check the weight and dimensions of any charger you buy and think about whether you want to carry around that much extra weight. I have this one and it works well, but I personally wouldn't want to carry anything heavier: http://www.amazon.com/Jackery-Bar-External-Battery-Charger/dp/B00AANMVNQ/ I'd probably go with this one linked above if I were buying now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KL4PREO/

Jackery and Anker are both good brands.

I bought this one, based on the recommendation. I hate the idea of carrying "stuff" in the parks, but I'm going to have to bring a small backpack anyway since my 5 year old GS will need dry socks (don't ask- that kid sweats like a grown man), maybe a sweatshirt, some water, etc. Initially I was planning to just bring stuff in my cargo pockets but I think we'll need a wee bit more. So weight and is definitely a factor! We don't have anything except one iPhone 5, though.

I really like anker brand external batteries as they support the higher voltage output so you get a fast charge on your phone. They have a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to find one that fits your need.

I also have their 5 and 6 port usb charger. It's like 6 chargers with 1 plug. Works really well for back in the room to recharge all the mobile devices and your batteries. I like it a lot better than lugging all the chargers for everything + a power strip to plug all the chargers in. However I was pleasantly surprised that CBR had some usb outlets near the tv and night stand which I wasn't expecting so that might be overkill.

The USB Outlets in the newer rooms at WDW are very much welcomed. I'd probably still go for overkill as I can use the USB Hub on the flight over too :)

Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not, but I just bought a Mophie on sale on amazon.com - it's cute purple and it charges my Samsung phone really quickly and I get about 4-6 charges (varying between fully dead phone to about 20%) out it before having to charge it again. It's a great size, it's smaller than my actual phone (although a little thicker).

Jackery and Anker are both good brands.

I have the same Jackery and it's about as big and heavy as I would be willing to go. Wouldn't want anything larger/heavier. It works well - when fully charged, it will charge up to two iPhones and iPad fully. Works quickly, too. I guess my only gripe would be that the Jackery itself takes a while to fully charge up when it's dead, maybe 10-12 hours or so. DH has a Mophie juice pack and I'd say it works just the same but it's a bit larger.
