Excellent shots!!!

I hope to purchase the nifty 50 before my trip at the end of june, but my rebel xs only goes to 1600. I hope to make out some of the shots that you got, but probably no where the same quality level.

Great job!!

Matt

Also, be aware that his camera has a 1.0x crop factor (i.e. none), so you will not have the same focal length as him with the same lenses. You would need to go with a 30mm to get the same results. For example, the hitchhiking ghosts are nearly impossible on a 50mm with a crop sensor camera. You also need to keep your shutter speed higher than he did to prevent motion blur b/c there is no IS available for that lens on a Canon.

Great shots! I'm impressed at the 5d's iq with such high ISO. I'll move up to full frame someday..... :)

Thanks!

The IQ is very good on the 5D at high ISOs, however most of these shots have also had a run through Noise Ninja.

Great shots! I am constantly learning something new on this board---I'd never heard of an ISO of 12800! YOWZA!

Todd,

Great pics :worship: of one of my favorite rides in the MK.

Thanks, Dave!

Really awesome shots. Thanks for posting!
Thank you, little1kry!

Awesome pics! I love this ride!!!!
Thank you, CdnDisneyLover!

I really appreciate everyone's comments. It was a good time of year to visit because the crowd levels allowed me to slip on the rides multiple times for "practice." And I didn't have any other family members wanting to go ride something else, so that worked to my advantage also.

And all of that from a $250 point and shoot. Who would have thought!

Just kidding you know!!!!

Great shots!

Thanks, Amy! Yes, some of the newer cameras are boasting these higher ISOs which is making it easier to get decent exposures on dark rides. Getting creative shots on dark rides now that the technology is evolving, well that's a different story. That's going to be the new challenge... how to capture different perspectives when everyone has the same field of view on dark rides.

I really tried to find some shots that I had not seen before (or at least some variation or different perspective of what has been seen before). This is looking back toward the Captain Jack in the barrel scene from the last row of the boat. I'm not crazy about the composition here, but I do like the light reflecting off the water. If I would have turned around a little sooner and been able to recompose the shot just a bit, this might have made a really interesting perspective. 1/40 sec., f/2.8, 64mm, ISO 12800

Well, I didn't realize that I actually DID try what I suggested above, but it didn't quite turn out as well as it could have. I like the composition of this shot much better (although it's still not exactly what I envisioned). I especially like the trailing boat watching the scene. The pirates arm was moving, so I should have used a faster shutter speed. Anyway, even though it's not a very good example, this is more what I'm talking about in seeking different perspectives on dark rides. I think different perspectives are going to be very important now that there are more cameras out there that can shoot at very high ISOs. We're going to start seeing more and more shots of the same thing because everyone's field of view is the same.

On the heels of my last post - which external flash should I get? Would the SB-400 sufice or should I just suck it up, spend the extra $100 and get the SB-600?
