Great picture Todd but didn't you have a 40D? Where did the 5d come from?:cool1:

Very nice---looking forward to seeing more from Peter Pan---haven't been on that ride in SO LONG but from what I hear, it's a really tricky one to get good shots on.

A small request (if you have time, and if not, I'll just look on your SmugMug)---can you post EXIF with them??? :goodvibes

I have 7 months to study up before our trip in December and if DH has anything to do with it, it'll be our only trip to Disney for quite a while so I need to make it count!!

Thanks, Anne. I will go back and post the EXIF under each shot. Peter Pan is really tricky. It moves fast and twists and turns all over the place. And there's ALWAYS a wait for it so you just can't ride it and hop right back on when it's over without waiting at least 30 minutes (unlike the HM, where you can usually hop right back on with a minimal wait).

I might also start a new thread with more tips on shooting dark rides based on some things I experienced this week.

These are great. I recently posted a help request for POTC. My D90 was delivered yesterday and have been practicing.
Please post your settings.

Thanks! Congrats on your D90... it should do just fine on the dark rides.

Without a doubt, this is the best capture I've ever seen of this--my favorite part of the ride. Strong work and thanks for sharing!
(Would you mind sharing the ISO, shutter speed and aperture, please? EXIF data doesn't display it)

Hey Nice shots! What camera and lens were you using?

Thanks!

The camera body is the Canon 5Dmkii and all of the above shots were taken using the Canon 50mm f/1.8 ii lens (AKA the "nifty fifty" or "plastic fantastic").

Thanks! I edited the original post to include the exif info.

That is a great idea. I would be very interested in reading it!

You got some amazing shots.:thumbsup2

I can't quite get the WB right on this shot, so I'm still tweaking it. 1/30 sec. f/2.8, 70mm, ISO 12800, shutter priority

Excellent shots!!!

I hope to purchase the nifty 50 before my trip at the end of june, but my rebel xs only goes to 1600. I hope to make out some of the shots that you got, but probably no where the same quality level.

Great job!!

Matt

Really impressive! I'm curious to why f/2.8 and not wide open? Was it because you wanted a little more DOF? Looking forward to hearing what your experiences were. Thanks for sharing!

eta:Never mind, you used a different lens for those.

A couple more (i'm trying to upload a few at a time as I get them PP'd). EXIF is listed under each pic.

532800263_etvj3-XL.jpg

1/40 sec., f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 12800

532799604_VN4pH-XL.jpg

Is that some kind of clown about 3/4 down in the center? 1/50 sec., f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 12800

532098510_zVo8k-XL.jpg

1/50 sec., f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 12800

532731181_RoZT4-XL.jpg

I still wasn't able to get a really good shot of the hitchhiking ghosts. That (and the caretaker) are two especially difficult shots to pull off in the HM. 1/40 sec., f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 25600

Oh, that second shot (the one of the treasure chest) really catches my eye. It evokes just the right mood. Well done!

Thanks wenrob! You're correct. I was also using my 24-70 f/2.8 because I wanted to shoot wider and have more DOF in some areas. It's amazing how much more creative opportunity ISO 12800 opens up.

And some more

532775527_PRat9-XL.jpg

Of course, everybody has this shot. 1/30 sec., f/2.8, 70mm, ISO 12800

532775900_PptiA-XL.jpg

1/30 sec., f/2.8, 70mm, ISO 12800

532819991_eBm5v-XL.jpg

I really tried to find some shots that I had not seen before (or at least some variation or different perspective of what has been seen before). This is looking back toward the Captain Jack in the barrel scene from the last row of the boat. I'm not crazy about the composition here, but I do like the light reflecting off the water. If I would have turned around a little sooner and been able to recompose the shot just a bit, this might have made a really interesting perspective. 1/40 sec., f/2.8, 64mm, ISO 12800

532817473_HYDbX-XL.jpg

1/50 sec., f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 6400
