Exterior house colors

Virtually every store that sells paint mixes your color to order by adding various colors from a formula to the tint base. They will usually open the cam when done shaking, to insure you ended up with the desired color. If buying several gallons, it is also a good idea to mix them all together to insure a uniform color.

Actually a good thing since the store doesn't have to stock all the different colors and means they can produce thousands of shades of each color.
I’ve bought paint many times, but never actually watched it being mixed before today.

We have an approved list of colors for base, trim and front door and should you want a color not on the list you need to seek approval from the Developer (would be the board once it's turned over to them).

Our paint color (granite peak) was not on the approved list but we submitted 3 different colors and they said the granite peak was fine. It's more of a blue (which was not allowed) but with gray undertones. Blue is now allowed in much more varieties than it was when we first built our house in 2014 with that list having been updated in 2012 prior to then.

A yellow house also got approval and while it did get a flurry of complaints about it at least it wasn't a stark yellow.

You aren't allowed the darkest of any color because they fade fast. We originally wanted to do a navy blue with a white trim. There are some houses that have painted darker colors that have faded badly so I get it. Most of those are actually either a green shade or a brown shade that have looked the worst. Even though our house is a darker blue it hasn't fade badly like the other shades I've seen.

I'm fine with having approved colors in our neighborhood, they aren't really truly that restrictive and at least gray became the more predominant color. I'll take that over the brown that encapsulated the county over the years.

We could a bit of touch ups on our front house after 9 years of full sun. We did repaint the garage doors (which were that granite peak) a few years back but that is also a different material than the stucco and siding so it takes wear and tear differently.

Built our Fl. house in 3/87 with typical white stucco on block. Finally needed updating 25 years later and went for a Key West look. Paint was Sherwin Williams YELLOW on the block then LIME GREEN trim and BLUE DOORS.

My color choice was a total deviation from all houses in town; HOWEVER, other homes began being updated with similar colors AND even NEW CONSTRUCTION followed.
