I'm pulling a Tia, here. This really should go on the Resorts Board, but OH WELL!

I'm thinking of adding on to my DISCON stay for four more days. The All-Stars are sold out (must be them cheerleaders :D), but I got a quote from Dreams today for the Carribbean Beach resort for a little less than $100.00 a night.

Has anyone stayed there? What's the place like? Is it full of cigar-smoking, women-chasing conventioneers (not like US!) like I've heard? If I'm gonna stay on for awhile, I'd rather not be surrounded with people that remind me of work, if you know what I mean.

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!

My only opinion is...........YOU LUCKY DOG! :D

I'm green with envy! ;)

I've never stayed there but I'm with Tia.......lucky guy!

And, here I extended my stay only one more day! ;) I've never stayed at CB so I can't help you there. We ate at the food court once. But, that was a long time ago. From what I remember, it seemed nice. Don't remember what the clientele was, though. LOL

Hi Steve,

Coronado Springs is the moderate resorts that caterers conventions. They do have a convention center. I don't think you would find those cigar smoking dudes at CB. At the resorts boards there are some mixed reports on CB. I have only visited the resort and I found it very nice, a bit spread out. The night lighting is kinda cool.

BTW, what do you mean with "pulling a Tia"????? :D

I'm also green with envy! :bounce:

I stayed ast CBR 2 years ago during Spring Break. It was
surprisingly nice! I mean, it's no Deluxe hotel, but it really was nice.
Clientele was mostly families. I'd suggest asking for
Martinique Bldg 25 or 26 if you stay there.

Also, maybe you were thinking of Coronado Springs regarding the
conventioneers. CSR is the only moderate with convention facilities.

I don't know why I'm telling you all this when you're adding 4 more days AND
I'm not!!!!! ;) :D

Shhhhhh, stop mentioning my name in this thread.....it's drawing attention to my other thread. ;) LOL :D

Lucky you, that's great Steve! :)

I've stayed at the Carribbean Beach and Coronada Springs. Carribbean Beach was fine, but I much preferred Coronada Springs, it's lovely and they have a great pool and huge hot tub. Hey, hot tub meet!! LOL

Even with women-chasing conventioneers (how come that doesn't sound bad to me? lol), I'd stay at CS if I had a choice between the two.

Well you see Livia, there's another thread on here that doesn't have much to do with DISCON..... :D

Thanks for the info, everybody!

Oh My!! I added extra days to the beginning of my stay. We are staying at the ASMu then on the 27th moving over to the ASMo. I didn't realize that the All Stars are all booked up!! I got the ASMu for $49.00 a night plus tax which makes it about $54.00 a night. Hope the crowd won't be that bad, but I DID read that the cheerleaders will be moving in for compitetion around 12-3. Hope I'm not crazy and will regret the AS!

Gerri

PS. This also doesn't have anything to do with the DIS CON exactly, BUT, tinight I bought some of those Space Bags that has been advertised on TV. You know the ones. They pack a bunch of stuff in them then use the vaccume cleaner to suck out the air and it becomes super flat. Well, I bought them at Wlagreens for $5.99 each (large sized) and they came with the bonus Travel Space Bag, actually 2 of them.

Here's what I'm wondering, have any of you used these bags before? I've ended up with 6 of the Travel bags. I hope they work well. I am not planning to travel before my WDW vacation, so please, if you've used these before, give me the low down. Thanks.

Steve,

I liked the Caribbean Beach when I stayed there. A bit crowded at the food court, though. Personally, I'm staying at the Coronado Springs the four days after the convention (with all the cigar-smoking conventioneers) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the next three days.

Frank

I'm heading toward the Animal Kingdom Lodge in less than 30 days! Yippee!!

Just for the record, I don't have anything against cigar-smoking. Akshally, on the right person it can look and smell pretty good. But that's another story.

Steve,

Two trips to WDW within two and a half months?

And you're not a local?

And you even get to stay at the AKL?

 Somehow that just doesn't seem fair.

 Yes, jealousy is alive and well in Atlanta.

Frank

Frank,

It's just kinda the way things worked out. I had planned (and paid for) the September/October trip back in December of last year, and when the DISCON thing came up, I couldn't resist. Any excuse will do, ya know? Besides, I have to get in one more trip before my annual passport expires. ;)
