I am wondering if ms ever extends the expiration of banked point . I had an accident at work 30 stitches in head 2 broken bones in my neck and will be in full hard neck brace for at least 8 weeks and who knows after that . I Am supposed to go to akv 1-14 for 9 days don't think I am going to be able too. 310 pts used 200 of them are already banked point and expire sept 2015. If I don't go in jan I will not be able to go till following jan so I would loose those 200 pts . Does ms ever extend the banking in cases like this injury? Or will I have to try to rent out points or something to do with pts. If I rent what's the best way to do it.
Thanks

You seem like you already know this, but make sure you remember the 31 day cancellation window so the points don't go into holding. Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you recover quickly.

So sorry this happened to you. There are a couple of ways to try to handle your situation.

First call MS and let them know what happened. They may give you a one time exemption and let you bank all your points but I wouldn't count on that.

You could cancel a portion of your stay in Jan and put 110 points back into your account and rent the rest of the confirmed reservation on the rent/trade board. Just remember to do this before the 31 day mark so those 110 points don't go into holding.

Or you could rent the entire confirmed reservation.

If you have until Sept 2015 you will have plenty of time to rent your banked points or you could contact a broker.

Good luck!

sorry for your problems. Dvc sometimes gives a special 1 time exemption if you forget to bank your pts in time but I don't think they will because you can only bank pts once and these were all ready banked once.

I have heard of making exceptions to allow current year points to be banked after the deadline but I've never heard of them allowing points to be banked a second time. Since they don't expire until September, I would rent them.

Unfortunately, I don't think that allowing points to be double banked is something that even MS can do.

I am so sorry to hear about your accident and hope that you recover quickly. As already mentioned, if you have to cancel, do so before 31 days out so you at least don't add the holding restriction to them and if you are not going to be able to use them, consider offering them as a rental.

Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I agree with others here, it's doubtful MS would allow you to bank your banked points a second time.

The easiest way to rent your points is through David's service: www.dvcrequest.com. He acts as an intermediary, connecting renters and owners, and takes a few dollars per point for handling the transaction for you. Many here have used his service.

Include me to send my best wishes to a speedy recovery.

I agree that you will not be allowed to bank points already banked. They probably can't allow that as it would mess up the grand balance of points.

I would also concur that you cancel the reservation, bank any points that you can, and then call a reputable rental company and rent out the unused points since they don't expired until September of 2015. You'll come out slightly ahead on the deal versus your MFs, and you can still enjoy a trip next year when you are hopefully 100%.

Good luck with everything.

To the OP I hope you have a speedy recovery. It sounds like you are going through a lot right now.

Even if MS could bank points for a second time, I think the fact that the points will not expire until September 2015 cannot be ignored. Someone could use those points by that date. Perhaps the OP would want to rent them out. Or better yet take a resort only vacation where he could just relax when he is a little further on in his recovery.
