Extended queue for people mover!

Check out my trip report. Got my A&E fix at WDW.

Other California Adventures:

Fly into LAX and do a bunch of Hollywood stuff including Disneyland, US Hollywood, Hollywood tours, Knotts Berry Farm (two new revamped dark type rides), and whatever. Drive a rental car from LAX but drive the Pacific Coast Highway and leave from another airport, like, San Francisco. The rental car doesn't cost more if the agency needs to move cars around and may actually cost less. Check out the other California options while there.

Oh, trust me....we have been there before. We've driven from Muir Woods down through Big Sur. And then we hit the 405 down to the 110 to the 5....

I have never been to DL and quite honestly (like a lot of WDW "snobs") assumed I wasn't really missing much. Heard the tales of it being smaller, not as exciting, etc. But you guys have really made me change my mind on that. I've always said "oh we should go there once just to say we did" but now I really WANT to go and see it. Plus, hearing they still have Mr Toad's. Well, that was my FAVORITE when I was little. LOL Our problem is it's so far to DL. I've actually never been further west than Dallas, Texas myself. :D I would love to see California but I can't imagine the expense and the time a trip there would involve. :sad2:
We live in the Dallas area and we did find that traveling to California was expensive. It's also so very far away over some unwelcome terrain so we flew on Frontier and rented a car, also expensive. However we loved Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. We checked out a few old Hollywood hotels (my thing) and toured the Queen Mary which was amazing. We then spent a few days in San Diego and really loved it there.

I would love to go back to Cali because we barely scratched the surface of things to do. Disneyland kept us busy for a few days and that was BEFORE California Adventure was built into the good park that it is now.

we got here for the 8 am offsite open. Did Peter Pan standby to see the new queue, then BTMRR, Splash, PotC, Splash again with FP, PP with FP, had lunch at BOG, went to kiosk and got 4th FP for monsters inc, CM there have us paper FP for Philharmagic (which was a 30 min wait ... So we walked right onto that one). Just got out of CoP and decided to kill time on the PM extended queue while waiting for the 2:20 Monsters FP. Then we'll see the parade and get out of dodge. Considering the 100 minute waits everywhere, we have done extremely well. Can't emphasize the importance of RD enough when it's a big holiday like this! And today is a recommended day - I don't want to know what yesterday looked like!

what are you talking about when you say extended queue on the people mover??? i dont understand

I will take a stab at it.

Another poster posted their experience and if was quite similar to ours in December.

There is now a long queue area at Peoplemover now. And quite often when you walk by, it is completely filled and appears quite long.

But as happened with one of the posters here, on our trip, the queue was stopped before the ramp. CM's allowed those folks to board and waited for the entire ramp and upstairs queue area to be clear before allowing more guests to go up. When this happened to us, our group was the first group up the ramp when guests were permitted to resume boarding. This also happened to leave many cars empty.

I don't know why they are doing this. Some suggest safety as since it is a continuous boarding process and there may have been problems with the ramp getting too filled and folks not moving quickly enough.

Yes .... And there was more rope than I've usually seen and the line of people spilled out beyond that and a cat member was standing at the end of that line with one of those signs telling people "tomorrowland Transit Authority line here". It was still only a five or ten minute wait - but it was longer than I have ever seen it. Today is crazy in Epcot too. TT was close to a four hour wait at one point.

I prefer the words. Any photos I take are personal mementos and I try to avoid having strangers in my shots. Just saying!

What did you think about the new PP queue? We usually FP PP, but I was considering going there first after RD instead. Thanks!

Makes summer look like a great idea!! mid June is not nearly that bad, crowd wise.

Thanks for backing me up on DL
WDW is good but nothing compares to the original.

MK has a lot more rides than at the World. Not to mention a much better Pirates and we believe HM. Cars land is worth the trip in itself.

The real benefit you can walk yes walk from your Disney or non Disney hotel & be in the parks 10 minutes maybe 15 if you are far out. Then you can walk right across to Ca Adventure. No waiting for buses.

Now I need to plan a trip back!

I don't understand why DL is less crowded than WDW? It's smaller and there are more people living within driving distance. Just wondering. I've always wanted to go but flights from TO, ONtario are very expensive.

It isn't always less crowded, imo. They have their high seasons just like WDW does. And at those times the size of the parks (smaller) can make it feel more crowded even if it is less # of people. IME, though, DLR's low seasons are less crowded than WDW's low seasons. There are trade offs with low season....night shows don't run every night, hours are shorter, rides go down for refurb. That is why we are heading out there in November, just in time for their holiday season to start. It is still low season crowd wise, but bc of the holidays, fireworks are every night, rides aren't down for refurb, the overlays on rides are up, and the hours are great for families :)

Huh... All this Disneyland love. When I visit my family in cali we go to DL, and it's fun. But I've never found it omg amazing. Wdw is so much like DL now. And I really don't like CA. The roller coaster there is meh and often breaks down. It feels incomplete like DHS. I'd go just to ride the new cars stuff. But I wouldn't need to go again for a decade hah. It's cheaper as a new yorker to fly and vacation at wdw where there's plenty more to do (subjective opinion alert).

I'd rather go to universal Studios orlando than DL.

Isn't it amazing how we can all see the same things so differently?

People say they love FP+ and I say "huh?"

We say we prefer Disneyland and you say "huh?"

I'm just glad we all have options.

I hear ya! It's like every day is opposite day around here. What are the chances? ;)

Agreed! I'm also glad DLR doesn't have FP+! When are you planning your next visit to DLR? I think the 60th anniversary stuff will be spectacular.

Truly! It's quite adorable! :)

I really enjoyed it. The shadows are a lot of fun and there's some simple "pixie dust" lighting that's really cute. I wouldn't wait a long time for it, but it was definitely worth strolling to at RD since we didn't need to run to A&E or Mine Train...

I am really excited to get back to DLR. I'm waiting until Katie's classes get under way in the fall before committing on dates. I love love love that I can do that at DLR. I won't have to commit on dates there until about the point I would already be committing on ride times at WDW! But we have APs this year, so we will definitely be heading west again. I can't wait to see the new fireworks and parade. Heck, I'm even excited to see the spruced up castle.

Katie prefers DLR hands down. She even did her National History Day project this year on Walt Disney and focused primarily on the development of DLR.
