Extended Evening Hours

That is the week of Easter. Do you think they are using HS instead of MK since they might need to extend park hours that week and don’t want to have to add 2 extra hours to a later MK? At some point, I don’t know that it would be a perk for most if the extra hours were 12-2 or even 11-1.

If they want us to extend our stay, then they need to announce it further ahead of time. I would happily rearrange things to fit these into our schedule, no matter what park they are. Yes, I realize they announce it in time to book dining at 60 days. But 60 days is usually not enough time to rearrange vacation schedules, time off of work, flights, or to extend a disney deluxe resort stay.

I'm excited for HS, but hope it doesn't replace MK. I was most excited for MK!

Hollywood Studios added to Extended Evening Hours!

This raises all kinds of questions.

The first DHS night is on a Wednesday. Is that in lieu of MK that week? Will they alternate which parks have extended hours each week? If so, that would be extremely disappointing!

Is this just a temporary spring break thing? If so, why not do it in March also?

If they are going to have extended hours at three parks each week going forward, and Epcot remains on Monday and DHS now takes over Wednesday, then when will MK be? I'm guessing that Disney would rather not do it on Friday or Saturday. I think they are using Extended Evening Hours in part to try to incentivize deluxe guests to stay longer, and not just come for the weekend. That's why they have generally only done these on Mondays and Wednesdays so far. Maybe MK will be Sundays or Thursdays? Or even Tuesdays? (Though it that were the case, you would think they would have announced it for April 12.)

It's weird that they wouldn't release the whole week if they were doing it at MK though, because the one weird week in Feb where it's a Friday was released all at once

We were really looking forward to an evening at Magic Kingdom. That park is so crowded the extra hours are definitely worth it. I know I sound like a spoiled child, but I am disappointed.

Do you have to tap into a park to go to extra hours? Could we just have a resort day and then go to the late hours? We have APs in that means anything.

I believe you would need a park pass for the park you're going to even if you spend the majority of the day at the resort.

Thank you. Monday is moving day and we usually just use it as a resort day. Not sure if we'd go into a park at all, but maybe might want to do Epcot late night. But we'll be at BLT, so hard not to go into MK.

I'd just get an EPCOT pass for that day if you think you might want to go for the extended hours especially since you have a resort stay and you're AP limit won't be affected.

We are there on 4/14 - 4/23 (week after Easter). I’m wondering if Hollywood Studio will be on for the next Wednesday too. If so I’m definitely changing my park pass for the day. We have HS that Wednesday but I’d rather do a different park and hop over to the one with extended hours

The week after Easter is back to Mon EPCOT / Wed MK. I’m really surprised there aren’t any MK hours the week before Easter. Still no list of what HS rides are included on 4/13.

Based on recent experience…how are the crowds at MK during extended evening hours? What should we expect in regards to wait times?

We were just there last week. Epcot: Soarin' and Test Track were pretty much walk ons. We didn't ride them but it looked as though the same was true for Mission: Space and the Seas. Nobody but us was riding the Three Caballeros. We had a 20 minute wait or so for Frozen, around 90 minutes into the time. We could have got on Remy, which was showing 35 minutes wait at 10:50, but figured we would head back to the resort as we were leaving the next day. They do close off the World Showcase between France and Norway, so you have to walk around the lower section to get between rides there.

MK: We waited about 15 minutes for Seven Dwarfs, and 20 for Peter Pan. We left those until the very end of the time. Buzz Lightyear was a 5 minute wait. Pirates was a walk on. Big Thunder had long lines early in the time block, but was down to 15 minutes by the end of the night. For us that night, the Disney tip board was more accurate for wait times than Touring Plans - they may just not have had so many people submitting wait times to them.

Also, if you hang around for long enough at MK, you can get shots like these. The one Disney Photo Pass photographer who was on Main Street closed her line around half an hour before the end of the evening, so if you want one of their pics, you need to leave a little sooner than we did...
