Express Pass question...

Wife and I have been to Disney many times in the past few years, but neither of us have visited US since the late 90's...before there even was an IOA.

We purchased the buy 2/get 3 passes from UT before the price increases...$200 per ticket.

Given that we already have tickets, is it safe to assume that the EP's can be purchased separately? We're going next weekend (5/21-22). Touring Plans'c crowd calendar shows 4's for both parks on Saturday, and 5's for both on Sunday.

Two questions...

1. How necessary would you US regulars consider EP's to be during that time?

2. If necessary, can I pre-purchase them now (and is it recommended)? If I do pre-purchase, would they get here by next Thursday (Alabama Gulf Coast), or would it be best to pick them up at will-call?

It's unlikely that anyone here would recommend that you buy the EPs in advance. The most common advice is to wait and see how the crowds are when you're there.

And the next piece of advice will be to check out a deluxe onsite hotel for your stay, to get the unlimited EP for the duration of your stay. :-D

We are DVC members at Disney and will be using some of our points for our stay, so that's not really an option.

Some people get a throwaway room just to take advantage of the EP... :-) Most of the time, it actually works out cheaper than buying the EPs out of pocket, because a one-night stay gets you TWO full days of unlimited EP for both of you. (And a 2-night stay would get 3 days, etc...)

Figure out one night stay for the cheapest deluxe hotel for your dates

Then compare the price for the ep for your group
Unlimited usage of express is the higher cost ones
One time use for each ride/show are cheaper

See which way is cheaper for you as snoopboop explained the way to you of benefit going with the throw away room

Maybe you can plan your Universal on site stay(one of the 3 resorts which INCLUDE EP) either at the beginning or end of your DVC trip, that way you are not using points in addition to paying for the onsite hotel stay. Thats how we plan it.::yes:: Good luck!:goodvibes
